I'm a rank amateur by the standards of this place! But they're all for wearing, not collecting:

A-2 - US Authentic seal horsehide (44) - one tough mutha, I love it

A-2 - FS/G&B civil model in black goatskin (46) - great jacket, though the chest/shoulders are a bit baggy on me

M-422A - FS/G&B (46) - just got it last week, I love it... and it fits me better than their A-2

B-15, navy blue - Alpha (XL) - not a good repro, though a solid and warm jacket... but the removable fur collar is *so* wrong and just doesn't lay right

Indy - Wested Raiders model, dark brown lambskin (custom size, based on 44) - love it, great to wear when it's just too warm for a flight jacket

MA-1 variant, navy blue - LL Bean (XL) - briefly available around 1997 and dirt cheap ($40), it's oversized, is made of a tougher exterior fabric than usual, has synthetic down-type insulation, and isn't reversable (it's orange on the inside, but has a wallet pocket instead of snap pockets)... and the neck hole is definitely too big (I need something with a good collar under it, or a scarf). Though some of the insulation has leaked out and it's less puffy than it used to be (Down Jacket Syndrome), this is still a very warm and totally indestructable jacket - I use it for cold-weather hiking, snow shoveling, etc.

80s bomber jacket, brown naked cowhide - Schott (marked 46, but fits more like a 42) - I got this over twenty years ago and wore the heck of it for several years. White pile lining (quilting in sleeves), brown pile G-1-ish collar, 2-piece back, 3-piece sleeves (one functions like a gussett), visible snaps on epaulets, etc. Way too small for me now, pretty beat up, and the knits are loose and pilled, but I just can't part with it - I'm keeping it in the hope that my son may want to wear it when he grows a bit.

I've also got the usual array of assorted windbreakers and baseball jackets, a denim jacket, an LL Bean warmup jacket, a nice double-breasted navy blue long wool coat I never wear, etc.

I have:

2 A-2s, one beater, one 'dress'.
1 goatskin M-65 field jacket
1 cheap mall store B-3 clone
1 '40s gabardine gas station jacket
1 '50s wool navy issue pea coat
2 overcoats, 1 wool, one cotton - the wool has an english bullion AAF patch on the shoulder, which is original. The cotton is a pretty close Christian Dior copy of Bogie's Casablanca trench.

I have various other jackets that don't get much wear and should probably be evicted from my closet. Most have a military / flight theme. One is nomex and I wouldn't get rid of.

On a side note thread...

"The One that Got Away..." or "The One I wish I didn't Sell"

Okay, I'll go first.

I picked up a WWII A2, un-issued as it was given to the family of a fighter kia as a gift and they kept it . It did have the cuffs replaced as moths ate them, but lining perfect, leather (goat) perfect. But a size 42 and I'm a modern 44 long. I sold it, but wish I still had it, just to have it.

I have to confess I'm a jacket-a-holic. Jackets are my favorite article of clothing. It's an addiction but an oh so sweet one.

Classic Denim jean jacket - Wrangler (Levi's are too baggy now)
Wested Temple of Doom - nuff said
Corduroy beige jean jacket - good lightweight alternative
Insulated Schott Goatskin flight jacket - bought used, great for bad weather
Cooper G1 Goatskin - gift, try to keep this one looking new for dressing up
Avirex A2 Lambskin - bought used in 84, now with 20 years of wear and noseart added by your's truly, maybe my favorite
Avirex Cotton A2 - bought as a light weight but actually one of my warmest jackets
Dickies gray mechanics jacket - can't change your oil without it
24Hrs of Daytona Racing Jacket - great for posing by someone else's Ferrari
black CWU-45P flight jacket - bought at base exchange in 1991, still fits (thank God)

I'm sure I'm forgetting one or two others and there's always another one just around the bend.

RMNZ Seal Dubow A-2

I've thinned the herd over the past few years and really like the jackets I have now. All great in their own way.

Would really like a 445 from the Few (RMNZ) but they don't make them in my size.

My ELC Star Sportswear is my favorite jacket to wear by far. I had Eastman put my grandfathers leather nametag on it. He was a bombardier in the 833rd squadron, 486th bomb group, 8th air force and died when I was young. Recently, I was able to track down his navigator who gave me a picture of my grandfather in his A-2. I had eastman put a nametag on the jacket just like my grandfathers in the photo.

How do you like your RMNZ Dubow A-2?

I just sold my ELC Star recently. It was such a beautiful jacket, but it billowed out too much for my scrawny frame. I looked like Lou Costello in it (normally I look more like Bud Abbot). My ELC 1401 is the keeper, crazy about it.
Not to digress but...Hey Chris, I dig your aviatar. A .366 lifetime average over 24 seasons! I never quite understood how how so many people could rate Ted Williams the all-time greatest pure hitter over Cobb (or Ruth for that matter). Have you read Stump's Cobb biography? It's one of my all-time favorite reads.

Its really a 54 in RMNZ sizing. 46 was the largest one piece label that they had. I bought the Crown from MASH and had it sent to RMNZ when they made my jacket. The horsehide is just incredible.

Thanks, I am a HUGE Cobb fan. Ty Cobb and my Gr-grandfather were born six months apart in Banks County, Ga in 1887. They lived less than a mile from each other on what is now Ga 105. The Cobbs and my family (Lanes) were close in the early days of Ty's life. My Gr-Gr grandfather and Ty's father were friends and neighbors. My gr-grandfather Lane was always proud that he knew Cobb.
Now my mothers side of the family (The Rhodes) were very sucessful cotton farmers in the Augusta area in the 1900-1950's. Ty Cobb and my Gr-grandfather Rhodes use to hunt quail together on the family land.
My grandmother remembed meeting Cobb on numerous occasions and playing with his sons and daughter when they would have parties at my Gr-grandfathers estate or at Cobb's house on William's street in Augusta.
She said Cobb use to call her "little lady". She said she remembers her father and Cobb sitting on the front porch together smoking cigar's and drinking whiskey after a hunt.
With the Cobb connection on both sides of my family, I became fan of the greatest baseball player in the history of the game.
