How many of you did hide a new leather jacket purchase from wife?

So Mister Daddy, paragon of honesty, have you looked a nother woman with sexual thought since you been married? Yes or no? Did you tell your wife? Yes or no. Enough with the bluster and bravado. What is the truth?

The truth is: my wife expects me to look at females with sometimes a form of imaginable desire. Afterall I am a man.
Enough with your bluster and scolding attitude. Don't need it. Been married many years. You do it your way..and I reckon I'll certainly do it mine. Think about it..you call me a liar..but you are content with decieving your wife..? However..lets not make it anymore personal. If you think that your way is the right way..fun..enjoyable...and the way things should work...well you're evidentally not alone.

Don't get it. Why should I need to hide anything from my wife..? She's not my Mommy.
I guess this is some kind of a running joke..right? --HoosierDaddy

Sir, you started the scolding. You inferred that those who hide a jacket are acting as if their wives are their mothers. What could be more insulting or scolding to the manhood of others?

Your wife is obviously a realist. Too bad you are not. If you do not want to make the thread personal, then this last reply of yours is certainly not following your own advice.

Is that more hypocritical than calling me scolding? That is a difficult question to answer and I have no wish to answer it.

You turned this thread sour by stepping up high onto a soap box.

Sir, there is no need to spit in the punch bowl and then decline to drink the punch because it is not to your taste.

I must admit clutter doesn't even start to describe my work room ,midden is probably nearer the mark, so I quite often manage to disappear stuff even from myself, it is just habbit that new stuff goes in here for a look at and a play with while work is drying. The easiest thing would just be to chuck it into the store room across the hall, that has the best part of 25 years worth of left over part hides and allsorts in it, but where is the fun in that, after all it is pretty much just a game.

It's only when I go in and look at how much stuff I have for "a project i am about to do" that I realise how much crap I have managed to accumulate so I am probably hiding it fram myself as much as anything because it is almost embarrassing.

Well, it is obvious that we're going to find cultural differences depending on where we live :) And it is totally ok, no need to start personal argues. Maybe in some places you can be totally honest with wife, even when it comes to talk about cheating ... but not where I live. This is a matriarchal society since the stone ages. Here, wife or girlfriend is more or less like a classic Marine's Sargent. You don't go and openly tell your wife "baby I cheated on you" because your man parts are in serious danger ala Lorena Bobbit.
OTOH, when I was a young lad, I did hide motorcycles from my parents lol

A closed friend of mine finished school, got his first job, saved his first money and bought his dreamed motorcycle. Then met a girl, got married and the first thing wife said was that motorbike had to go. The poor man had to hide his bike in a friend's garage. He hid leather pants, Perfecto jacket, gloves and boots in the bottom of a wardrobe until wife found his stash... :eeek: He's divorced now.

Makes you wonder what the attraction was in the first place. Unfortunately there's quite a few women out there who see their men as some sort of DIY project. Hopefully your friend still has his motorcycle. Some things were just never meant to be.

My wife said "When I met you you rode a bike - it wasn't right to ask you to stop". But I cut way down as we were raising kids and I didn't want her/them to worry. You don't marry someone to change them - it doesn't work. We have a "deal" that anything over ~$500 we discuss. Otherwise, we let each other do our own thing. It's kinda cool to be an adult and live without secrets. And FWIW, she smacks me when I enjoy a Carl's Jr commercial too much lol

Things work like this around here. Motorbike insurances are pretty high and wife said; "we don't need this, get rid of it" period.

Anyway, I didn't start this thread to carry a sociological/psychiatric study on. I meant just to have some fun/group therapy together since one of us stated that his marriage was in jeopardy after purchasing a leather jacket lol

I think we need some beef here :D We have a guy hiding hide all over his house, some guys hiding jackets at their offices. I still want to hear how in earth you can hide an Irving from wife at home ;)

Listen fella's, let's all of us calm down and have a coke, okay?

(just don't tell my missus - she's been all over me about my diet!) ;)

On the real, I think each relationship is as different as each person in it. I know I'm straight forward about things with my lady, and she is straight forward with me. We actually do talk about attractive people we see, or about insane purchases we make, or whether or not one of us looks fat in a certain pair of jeans. It's just how we are, for better or worse. Doesn't mean we're better off, just kinda how we deal with the world. So you know --> [huh]

HMMM the "law" seems to be different your side of the atlantic ,as soon as a woman get's their feet under the table over here they see thenselves as your boss in every facet of your life and your personal banker...it's not uncommon over here for a bloke to hand his wages straight to the missus and if he want's any "pocket money" he has to almost beg for some of it back, it is quite pathetic to see grown men reduced to that really.

I don't mind hiding odds and sods as a bit of a game but if it ever got too serious bags would be packed and doors held open and invitations to leave would be given....I'll have to look out for a yank woman next time.

The funnieest one I heard was a fella I knoiw in spain who collects sniper rifles his missus hated the things and finally gave him the ultimatum "it's me or the guns" she found out the guns had won when she found her stuff packed, bagged and waiting for here outside the door one day when she came home.

I'm with HD on this one, I don't feel the need to hide any purchases from my wife. She is the one who is currently encouraging me to order my next Aero, I am the one holding back on spending our hard earned money :)

No wife, no need to hide anything. I could probably do with one to curb some of my spending habits..... ha....

I don't think it was meant as race, but cultures. There's NO doubt they vary from place to place. Mine's Italian, and trust me, I have my work cut out for me and vice-versa. I'm German, so we're quite the pair lol

I don't feel that I'm under anyone's thumb..however..it does seem that some others find a certain fondness in that kinda game.

Sad to say, it's not a game. I see it all too often. Some men do live under their women's thumbs. Not every has a healthy level of communication in their relationships. I have friends like that. I see how they squirm. It's terrible to have to figure out "what do I tell the wife" at every turn.

I show every jacket I'm even considering to my girlfriend to get her input. I can't tell you how many mistakes she's kept me from making. I might think a jacket looks good when actually it doesn't work for my particular build. She's way more objective and I can tell you that with her advice the clothes I end up with are great combination of what I like and what suits me. I'd recommend this method to anyone. Plus when they feel more a part of it, well that can only be a good thing.
