Awaiting final word on shipping from 5 * concerning my semi-custom Goatskin "Navy Style" G-8 jacket.
Among customizations were: Hidden handwarmer pockets, moving inner pocket from right chest to left chest (similar to G-1 jacket), G-1 style buttoned throat latch, moving front pockets as low on chest as practical, and some sleeve and body lengthening.
Pix sent to me, and it appears all is well, so far. We'll see how the received item works out. Will report.
Since the "G-8" jacket was apparently never an official design, I felt completely free to customize it; perhaps my doing so enhanced the overall design.

Note the subtle differences between the two jackets; they are not the same jacket.
To my mind, the G-8, with its sleeve zippers and buttoned sleeve cuffs is a jacket a bit more suited to windy/cold conditions than is the typical "Indiana Jones" jacket, to which it bears a considerable resemblance.
There are respected folks who claim that the closely related Indy style jacket is the best of its type, and as the owner of some very decent G-1 and A-2 jackets, I tend to agree. I consider the Indy jacket as a "fair weather" jacket, what with its lack of heat-retaining knitted waistband and sleeve cuffs. The G-8 jacket is likely better suited to somewhat cooler temps.
