I've got this amazing Pioneer Wear trucker coming my way. That is if @ton312 doesn't decide to keep it for himself.

This is a shockingly nice jacket. If I'm being honest it makes the rough out Y'2 I sent you look like a peice of sh!t.

This is the one from Grailed, with the paisley lining, right? Easily one of the coolest truckers I've ever seen, hands down, by miles and miles. My poor Schott Rancher has been getting sidelong looks of disappointment from me since this one was posted in the other thread.

@ton312 I say keep it. @Marc mndt seems like a good guy, but you have lots of other friends, lol.

Ha! I already traveled through the suede trucker journey. But I’d also be lying if I said I didn’t add “Pioneer wear suede jacket” to my mile long eBay saved search list.

Part of me feels it’s entirely unreasonable, even outrageous, that a jacket maker, however illustrious, feels it’s OK to overrule a paying customer (and a well informed regular paying customer at that in this case) on his carefully researched , chosen and sourced button choice on a jacket he is after all paying good money for. He who pays the piper calls the tune.. Sure Advise the customer, discuss and even steer the customer in what you feel is the right direction. But to ultimately insist on overruling him? Just no.

But then, based on the pics so far, I‘ve gotta say I like Stu’s button choice, they look absolutely awesome!

So whilst I’m quite sure corozo buttons would have been great, I just can’t see them matching these mother of pearl ones. Still a natural material like the corozo, but just with an extra touch of class and interest and a nice contrast and interplay between the tough jacket and the jewel like buttons….

FWIW And with no disrespect to your original button choice, these are a clear win in my book! Maybe letting an experienced maker who’s after all on the spot run with it (as you’ve done) is not such a bad thing….

Anyway the whole jacket looks awesome, looking forward to fit pics and review…

Next door in Albuquerque, I think. (Parr of Arizona has made a killer trucker or two.) But yeah, with the Pioneer Wear, lots and lots of fringe. Honestly, I never had any interest in their stuff until I saw that trucker.

The Sheeley showed today, so just under a year after putting my order in.
It’s a campus style jacket, quite similar to what Mr Freedom puts out but based on a Monarch pattern (of course!). I requested unlined, because that’s what I like.
Quite pleased with the fit, although a little snug in the pits. Keeping in mind this is brand new horsehide I have a feeling it will loosen up over time. Apologies for the shit fit pics but there it is. If you want to see more details of the jacket Dave has posted them in VLJ under ”Sheeley’s Pending 1930s Utility Jacket Builds” or I can provide them too. The leather feel and colour are fantastic, Italian tanned.

Indeed. Lots of Sherpa too (which I’m ok with). I saw these type III (sort of) with regularity when I was on my own suede based vision quest. But the sizing never seemed quite right. While Marc’s jacket is certainly wearable and does fit, I’d be happier with a 44”. It’s an interesting cut. Drastic and steep taper, high and tight armholes but the sleeves are not overly trim. The suede however is sublime. Thick, nice and even nap, almost a bit rigid. Really good stuff.

And one beauty of a collar! It is an unusual cut. A bit like old Lee Storm Riders, though of course the Lees have even more generous sleeves. In any case, it's a honey. Marc's got Trucker Bragging Rights for the foreseeable future.

Nice! A Sheeley Monarch aviator has been on my list for some time now. All the photos I’ve seen looked great. Congratulations on the new jacket.

I think the moleskin is a superb choice for warmth. Did you go all the way through the sleeves with it? My only concern would be that it's likely a bit grabby against a long sleeve shirt.

Yeah, I am afraid I made mistake after did some research and you are right. I should change to cotton on sleeves, I am still not so sure if moleskin will be too warm for fall and Spring, I thought it is a three season lining.

I've been tempted to go with corduroy through the entire jacket....I should've with my wool as it has cannon sized sleeves and would certainly be warmer than the drill. I think the moleskin is a good balance between drill and corduroy. It'll be like wearing an 8lb fleece.

These are gonna be HEAVY jackets!
I switched to moleskin lined sleeves on my CXL jackets after I keep getting burned with drill lined sleeves. The sateen lining is too light for heavy CXL jackets. The moleskin isn't that much thicker than the drill. Aero has one of the thickest drills, denim like. The resistance wearing long sleeve shirt is there but livable for me. With short sleeves the moleskin feels great, like wearing a flannel shirt.
The Alpaca fabric is very thick, but not dense. And the hair fiber is a lot scratchier than wool imo. If it's warmth, I think the quilted is warmer and easier to wear. The quilt that Aero/SB/FL uses is the nicest ones I have. I think they all use the same person who does the custom quilting job for them.
Can't see how much these beast weighs! I am gonna guess north of 8 lbs.

I would expect my king of the road to be at least 8 lbs, other two probably around 6-7 lbs, Aero still marks their steerhide at 4oz weight which is good news for me. Denny has already promise that I will get a heavy jacket.
Aero is now charge £50 for quilted lining, I don't know if they can put quilted in sleeves on HB, they can't do it on zipped sleeve.

The quilted lining would only be on the body like a vest and sleeves are still line in either drill...etc. Their quilt is different than the ones JL/Schott/LW uses.

CXL 4.5 oz Steer crosszip is gonna be at least 9lbs then, it may be over 10. Could be your heaviest jacket. Can't wait to see it!
