Thanks. Is the RMC a bit trimmer fit? My only gripe on the pike are the canon sized sleeves. Both look awfully nice. I do love my Pike. It’s one of those odd keeper jackets, based almost solely on function. but now you have your brown alpaca. That was a sticking point for my pike. I wanted that brown!
Interesting to note on the RMC about the liner and a T-shirt. I absolutely need long sleeves under my pike. It’s pretty itchy otherwise.

I started in a brown pike which i preferred. It was an xs and too small. Couldnt source the small.
Yeah, the rmc sleeves are narrower with a taper. The pike are like straight leg jeans. Tbh the taper may be a bit snug for you.
I really like the style but don’t need two. I’m going to list them both in the classifieds. I’ll see what interests the collective.

Great strategy, it appears you can’t lose. That’s always good.

A natural leather cafe racers is my Grail jacket, but I'm not sure if the seller measured right. All other jackets of the same model online and on their website list a different chest measurement (50cm). Also, thoughts on those marks on the upper arm? Google translate says 'tears' but I'm hoping they could be water marks... Can't tell from pics.

Rmc deck jacket arrived today. Here is a brief run down. I’ll try to highlight some of the things that may be of interest. I cannot speak to historical accuracy for either so I won’t compare but only say that RMC has a good reputation for such things and worn from 20 paces it would be hard for most to tell them apart. Both use a version of talon zips.

Sizing: Pike runs s,m,l,xl where Rmc runs numbers. Numbers may allow you to dial in the fit more. My Pike is a small. The Rmc is a 36 which is usually considered a small. Rmc is a little longer (1” ish) and about 1” smaller in the chest. I’d say the rmc fits like a 36 and the pike. Would be a 37 if there was such a thing. Only real noticeable differents is in the width of the arms with the Rmc feeling considerably narrower. The sleeves may also be a littlle higher but it may be a trick of the width.

Materials: Honestly if the whipcord came off of the same line I wouldn’t be surprised. I cannot tell the difference. The lining of the rmc is nicer than the pike. A ton nicer, no. Just softer. Keep in mind i received the rmc used and the lining may have settled and lost some of its itchyness. After 1year i am just now able to wear the pike with a T-shirt.

Buttons and zippers a bit nicer on the rmc.

Stitching. By TFL standards I’m pretty indifferent to stitching. I wouldn’t accept bad stitching but don’t differentiate between good and great. Again, the rmc appears a bit better.

Verdict: Overall the RMC is a bit nicer of a jacket. Twice the price? No. If I were at the shop and could have the Rmc or the Pike and $400 worth of other merch I would take the latter.
Would you say that a Pike Medium would fit a 40-42R (closer to a 40R or a 42R)? What about the RMC, what would be the "number" for a 40-42R?

The measurement seems off indeed, it is supposed to be size M, yet the chest measurement is lower... I wouldn't risk it.

A fellow lounger says in another thread that Tenjin is available in Switzerland off the rack but Tenjin only does custom order in Japan. So even though the tag size says 38, there may be deviations. Best thing is confirm with the seller the measurements. That is a minor mark or scratch not a tear.

I would say in general that a RMC at your typical number would provide a trim fit. If you are a 40-42 and want to be able to wear heavy shirts you need a 42. I would say that Pike at your typical size (smlxl) provides a generous fit. I believe ton312 trends towards being a 42 and I think wears a med. So i suppose you’re a pike med and and rmc 42.

I had been on the lookout for a Vanson Cheyenne or some sort of leather trucker and just got this one for a great deal:

Looks great, especially the leather. I spotted one or two, but always in a size that fits like a 42, which is too much for me.

I am pretty sure this M fits like a 42, these are the measurements given by HH121 in his thread:

Shoulder s to s: 19.29
Back from base of collar: 25
1/2 bottom: 19.68
pit to pit: 22.04 Fits much larger than measurement suggest
Sleeve straight from shoulder seam: 25.59

That's a perfect fit for me and i am usually a 42.
