How many new jackets do you have coming (and how many potential ones)?

Fitting arrived for my JL “Cascade”

They made up a new pattern for this design rather than using the CR-76 as originally intended. Damon said they’re planning to start offering it in their regular stock for those interested.

I really like how it turned out. I was on the fence about the lapel snaps but now I’m definitely sold. Will need to add some length as the front rides too high. It may be a touch tight overall.

It’s hard to see the lines they made, but there are two zipped lower pockets, upward-curved back yoke

Please give me your blunt advice and thoughts, would very much appreciate.

Well done! That looks so promising and it will be so cool to see when completed.

dang, that's nice. Definitely another inch on the front drop. Maybe 1/4-1/2 inch more on the ptp and waist so you can breathe, but that is super awesome.

Personally I would not touch the back length, I would only add an inch of extra front drop. If you do decide to add some extra length to the back, you should also make the bottom hem at least an inch wider. Otherwise the jacket will rest on your hips.

Looks great, but as @Toomanyhats suggested, I would add a little in the ptp (maybe some footballs) for ease of movement, but keep the waist tight. The waist shouldn't move up when you raise your arms.

What about underarm gussets or action back? Raising your arms up and having movement in your test jacket won't move the same as leather. I'd add some kind of gusseting if you want to move comfortably. Just my opinion so take it or leave it and either way, I think the final product will be very nice but maybe consider an action back or arm gussets (footballs) perhaps.

The length looks good to me.

This arrived the other week. Fits perfect but the leather is not as substantial as my other Freewheelers jackets. Mole skin lining and thinner leather relegates this to spring/fall duty which is fine since most my leathers have wool linings.

Thanks all for the input

I’m going to measure tonight and see what the ptp and shoulder come out to. May not need any more width if I go for the footballs, which was an excellent suggestion. Don’t really want the action back on this one.

@handymike I’m definitely going to ask for a longer collar button strap. I also like the D-pocket idea but totally sold will mull it over. Would bring the design close to the Thedi Cascade homage which is of course quite cool.

Turns out strength training makes you bigger, who knew? Didn’t make me taller though heh. Decided against D pocket this time around. I ended up going with the following after talking with Damon. Have til Tuesday to make any changes.

  1. +1” longer front length
  2. +1.5” chest and 1” bottom hem (these measurements are doubled, so ptp going from 22” to 22.75”)
  3. +1” bicep and ¾” elbow (circumference)
  4. Lapel snaps (brass)
  5. Two snaps on the bottom front opening (brass)
  6. We’ll make the left side of the collar 1” longer and add a second (brass) snap
  7. No interior pocket
  8. Underarm gussets with brass eyelets.

Can’t wait to see your creation!

Thanks HM! Quick on the draw as always heh

Interesting thing came up re: snaps at the base of the zipper. They’re planning to use 2 snaps as standard on their stock version to help reduce tension on the zipper and zipper tape.

Came up when we were discussing making the collar longer by adding a second snap, but I thought it would look weird having 2 snaps at collar and only 1 at base. Nice having bits of the visual and practical design both coming together like that.

Number 5 is alive. Seemingly small detail that is very functional. All MC jackets should have it.

Curious to hear how effective those underarm gussets end up being

Me too! My thinking is that I will generally be wearing the jacket zipped or half zipped and the additional movement for arms matters more than if I would be wearing this jacket open most of the time.

Makes you wonder if it would help with the notorious zipper tape tearing issue on Lost Worlds.
