How many new jackets do you have coming (and how many potential ones)?

Glad you got this one, it's a fantastic looking jacket. I didn't even notice it much at first but with time it became some of the nicest stuff I've seen from Japan and I never even handled the jacket. Freewheelers is good.

Thanks man! I was kind of the same way. I always loved the design of the Mulholland, I just never really pursued it and glossed over it for some reason.

Although I think it looks better in black, I went for it because it was the brown version.

It really is an exceptional jacket. As good as it gets all around.

How did you even find one of these?! :D The sleeves are long on this model which is why I shortened mine, but the jacket still looks pretty great otherwise.

Nice Mulholland as well. I love both of these models as you well know :)

Thanks!

These don’t come up for sale often, but if you patrol yahoo auctions japan long enough you’ll eventually find one.

In spite of recently crying about how I prefer denim to leather jackets, I've gone and bought another cross zip, currently inbound. No measurements from the seller, but the tag size should work - hope it fits.

It FINALLY arrived today, so I eagerly tried it on. Fit felt good across the shoulders, and the sleeves are spot on.

Zip it up... Wait, what!? Can't even get the halves of the zip anywhere near each other to zip it. But...? Everything else seems right?

A ha! It has side laces. And as I took it out of the parcel, those laces were done up so tightly the lace hole panels actually overlapped each other. Wow, and the seller said the jacket was too big for him!

Loosened the laces off and suddenly it's a perfect trim fit. I won't get a sweater under it, but on a t shirt it's excellent.

I'll post a bit more info about it once I've got some pictures in daylight, as the hide itself looks and feels incredible. The grain is off the charts.

It's a Hein Gericke btw, judging by the branded zipper pull (although there are no maker tags).

Please do post more of this! Why can't I ever find a HG like this??? Looks great all around!

A Quest that has taken me through 5-6 jackets may have been reached tonight..I await the Final Verdict on its' arrival.

Yes, 5-6 times denied. Now perhaps rewarded for my patience, but driven by passion too and perhaps common lust. Certainly not by need..but enough

I would have thought a Grail Jacket would be older than me, but not so. I have no certain way to date it, but I'm well versed in this maker and can make a fair estimate to be 1970.

I was in my Senior year of High School 50 years ago. Graduated in May of 1970. I am Gifting my self this Grail Jacket!!

I hope to return here soon, with Grail jacket in hand.

I am humbled...but gratified too!

Will do, @Monitor. Even though I've only seen the jacket under electric light so far, forest impressions are that it's extraordinary. Blacked out hardware, removable belt, side laces, light quilt lining, gusseted zip cuffs, and just the coolest hide: black seemingly wearing to brown on the work edges of seams etc, amazing texture and grain. A real burnished look to "peaks" on the surface, creases, seams, edges.

I'll do a thread for it.

Sadly my Fozie bear CAL is a bust. Never shipped. Super bummed, pissed and annoyed. No money lost but no CAL either. Now I have to decide if it’s time to ring up Stu and go for a CHP spec’d just like @El Marro‘s. Didn’t really want to go whole hog on yet another jacket. But the call for one is loud.
It’s either Stu or Alan. It has to be dreadnought though. Heaviest hide ever, or nothing at all.

JL makes fantastic jackets but for accuracy and absolute indestructibility, I'd go with LW.

Yeah man. I always expect to receive the same service I provide when selling a jacket. When it doesn’t happen I’m left angered and confused.

Was this a eBay purchase?

Alan had some hide (I can’t remember if it was horsehide or steerhide) when I was there in June that was 4+ oz. May have even been 5+ oz. He joked that the hide was for the “testosterone challenged.”

I feel like leather victory goes to Alan while Stu has a proven, very accurate pattern. I have to think. I won’t be doing this again.
I will order custom jacket with Alan (for super heavy weight hide + unbeatable customer service) and keep my eye on LW on classifieds and ebay.

Alan has my CAL now for a collar. I’m going to ask him about duplicating it in some “are you man enough” hide. See what he thinks. It has to be perfect. I won’t be happy with anything less. I want to leave this game. On a high note!
