How many new jackets do you have coming (and how many potential ones)?

I just received a ELC M422a with a top quality leather AVG Blood Chit sewn on (Sean from A-2 jacket patches, who does all Eastman's and Bill Kelso's leather patches). It looks seriously legit! Alas... I ordered a 42 Long and its a touch too big on me. So this will go up for sale if anyone's keen. I am 5'10+-, would suit someone more like 5'11, 6ft or over...

I just bought two Chevignon bomber jackets on ebay because why not. They're both from 3-3.5 oz very thick cowhide, used and affordable and I'm kind of growing to my Leveis Corduroy Trucker as a beater jacket and want a leather equivalent and I don't see myself treating a 1k USD jacket the same way as my 50 USD Levis..

Indeed. I just needed a word to explain myself why I bought four leather jackets in addition to my two old leather jackets and around 10 other jackets. With word like "collection" you can avoid discussing nonsense like "do you really need all those jackets?".

Now I find myself looking through different workboots I must have to use with my different new jackets. I am currently checking different Red wings for that.

I don't think I got carried away. It's a collection:

Pretty good mix of makers, styles, and hides. A couple pricey ones, and some pretty good deals on some high quality ones passed on by fellow TfL folks. Plus several cheap beaters. I like beaters.

Got a Mariner somewhere on this side of the Bospheros coming. Hunting for a Black tough guy black 3/4. And will surely buy an Aero Midnight Blue Type 3 as soon as they hit the streets.

Definitely going to retire before I could possibly break in all the work boots I have recently acquired. Also have a pretty good mix of makers and styles. I have Redwing Beckman, and Thorogood Portage in the mail. But, it is a collection.

Just getting to hats. Got an Akubra Stylemaster fedora, and B! wear Cap Co, Harris Tweed blue gray herringbone newsboy in the mail. Not to many hats on hand. But its a collection.

This is not obsessive compulsive behavior, or conspicuous consumption. It's a collection.

Thinking of starting my watch collection with a mid 30s Longines, but have a lot of studying to do. It will be a collection.

10/10 jackets. Here's the one I had but in XXL. If it was M, I'd have kept it forever. I wish people could see this leather, it's quite possibly the most beautiful hide I've ever handled. Of all the jackets I've had.

That one looks great indeeed, would jump at a size M. That's the biggest problem with these jacket actually, somehow only sizes L and XL show up on eBay..

I received the black one yesterday, the quality is insane. It's 5.5 lbs heavy and incredibly sturdy and functional. Underarm-gussets, multiple inner pockets, long-living and warm lining..Great, great jacket.

The brown one is out for delivery and the package is 3kg heavy, if it's a bit smaller than the black one, it may be my go to for the winter. Has a zip-in liner and detachable fake-fur collar.

I want to start a "What beaters are you wearing today" thread. Share info on decent stuff, that doesn't cost a fortune. Think it will fly?

Yep, and the L + sizes are all gigantic. But I still loved wearing that one, although I must've looked ridiculous. Otherwise, even though it wasn't an actual cop jacket, it was probably twice as functional as any Taylor's or Nate's and eleven times as nice. Would've kept that one forever if it was anywhere near my size... The removable collar was actual shearling. Man, I miss it. I gotta track one down in S or M.

But anyway, even though we talk near exclusively of repros, brands like Chevignon, Lee Trevor, etc. never get mentioned and some of these European made jackets are seriously above and beyond most stuff high end makers offer nowadays. The brown Chevignon jacket that you got for example, I'm absolutely convinced it's on the level of any other jacket from any other brand you've handled.

Meanwhile, $3000 price tags and 3 years wait time? For what? Give me a break...

Look at this. You'd have a hard time finding something as cool as this by Cal or Langlitz. . .

Never heard of Chevignon. Thanks for the tip. I like the look a lot. Plus were not talking about dropping $1000 here for a change.
Any advice on their sizing? I could go for this. Its always a challenge for me if I buy a large often the sleeves are too short, and i'm swimming in an XL. Thanks!

That the is very nice. I really like hearing about stuff that is decent quality but doesn't cost a fortune. What size Chevignon do you think would fit me?

I would love to keep the conversation going on decent quality jackets (and other stuff) that aren't the best in the world, but are decent value, and don't cost a fortune.
I have an couple of great Aeros, a himmel, a Thedi, a couple of SBz the are pretty nice. Would love to get a GW someday, and a couple the other well known and discussed high end makers, but man those prices. I'm sure they are worth it and are the best quality available. I've dropped over $1k on a few jackets, But I like Beaters!

I want to learn more about these jackets. Decent quality, but not expensive.

If you see something that would fit me let me know. I think you know my measurements. The SB Roadster fits fine, sleeves are little short, but that is my lot in life.
Please let me know if you see a Chevignon that would work for me.

Sorry about the lousy bathroom picture, but you remember this?

Love to find a lee Trevor that would work for me too.

Thanks.

Hi Woodyear

Probably good advice. Thanks. I just canceled a ebay impulse buy of a Chevignon jacket that Monitor posted. It had a broken zipper hand on the zipper pull. Plus I realize that a 44 P to p would be very tight on my 42 chest, even though this is the style on many motorcycle jackets. I like them a bit looser. My Thedi Cafe Racer is a 44 p to P, not going to get rid of it as it is such a beautiful leather and really fine craftsmanship. It is tight though. But that is the style I think. The leather on the Chevgnon looked really beautiful and had not heard of Chevignon, so I figured why not go for it, as the seller came down in price for only $100. Plus the sleeves were long enough for a change. Total impulse buy. The seller was very cooperative.

Yeah I have gotten a bit obsessive, but haven't made too many mistakes. All done pretty quickly, but have a pretty nice collection.

A few are going away for Christmas presents. I have 2 brothers just about the same size. I'm having fun. Not much else going on right now but work.

I wil slow down though. Good advice.

Thanks

And another one coming... Couldn't resist buying a new Aero LHB in Cordovan FQHH from Aero's "sale" page.

I already have a factory order Cordovan Vicenza Teamster coming after about 10 weeks... I wonder if they would be willing to change my order for something totally different? Cordovan Teamster and Cordovan LHB are very similar jackets even if the hide is very different.

Just e-Mail them. As long as the actual production of your jacket hasn't begun, you can change all you want.
