How many new jackets do you have coming (and how many potential ones)?

Hmmm...reading about all these other jacket orders actually makes me feel better. Nice to know I'm not the only jacket addict out there.
I just ordered a classic Langlitz-- the Cascade in the medium weight black cowhide with shoulder/elbow pads. (Since I just bought a motorcycle, I now have a semi-legitimate excuse to buy a fully functional motorcycle jacket!)

That is my excuse for a Lewis leather :)

I'm also on the waiting list for a Goodwear jacket (about 1 1/2 years now)- I'm thinking a Ventura in the Shinki.

That is the long term order, although I am at a very early stage

Every time I buy a premium jacket it just sits in the closet and I end up wearing my "beaters" instead.

I am sooooooo guilty of this, but ardently trying to break the habit. I would "save" my premium jackets for "special" occasions, and wear my beaters for the mundane outings. Given that most outings are relatively mundane, my premium jackets were gathering dust. Thus, this winter, I undertook a campaign to wear all my premium leathers as often as possible, regardless of the nature of the outing. I am trying to overcome and defeat the (erroneous) notion that premium leather requires a premium occasion. My wife noticed and even commented that I am wearing my leather jackets more often.

That's the best way to get about it!
Also trick question, which jacket do you take for a trip?
And finally, out of curiosity, what are your beater jackets?

The seller couldn't tell, he said it was refered to as heavy steerhide, that's all. It does look a lot like Connolly, grain-wise, though. Maybe Aero can tell? @Hide'n'seek @cloudylemonade It's looking great either way, though. Can't wait to receive it.
Yeah man post that sucker up when you get a chance. The Barnstormer is a rare bird and a super unique one at that! It sure looks like Connolly to me, either way...What a deal man. Congrats!

Is that Connolly Steerhide!?!? You scored a deal and a half on that one!!!

that is a nice looking Steerhide and does look like a Connolly. I had a Highwayman from the same era, same leather. When you get it let me know if it smells like Roses.

I have 15 leather jackets (I think) and am down to 15 peacoats. Plus a healthy assortment of casual jackets, work jackets, cold weather jackets/coats and three or four overcoats. There is no room in the closets for any more jackets, and my wife has said No Mas. Unfortunately, I agree. However that seal Vicenza posted by Carrie a week or so back has me rethinking my hasty decision.

I am just waiting on my final one, my Goodwear Imperial, probably one year to go... After that i'm done, i swear.
Seriously though, closet is full, black and brown are covered, various styles are covered, various brands are covered, different linings, i don't need anything else.

I do like a shawl collar and a grizzly though...

Nope. I'm about done here. Then I'll be heading over to the Lego lounge. "What rebellion fighter are you building today".

That's an even worse pitfall than the jackets. Once you build all the X-wings and Tie Fighters you can, you'll realize that the new Lego set have much smaller creativity freedom due to highly specialized pieces and next thing you know, you're buying all those vintage, original Lego sets from eBay. The medieval setting, the pirates, cities and my favorite, SF themed ones!

That and you'll probably end up making jackets out of 'em anyway...

I struggle with this issue. I want to take my premium leathers, but travelling presents several issues. Leather jackets are hard to pack (they take up a tremendous amount of space). I can take one as a carry on, but that presents other issues. Ultimately, it depends on where I am going. For example, I don't bring premium leather on safari in Africa.

And finally, out of curiosity, what are your beater jackets?

Honestly, I use most of my non-leathers as quasi-beater jackets -- Freewheelers, RMC, Rogue Territory, RRL, etc. That said, even my "beater" jackets are not really beat upon.

I haven't been to such a trip, but I would take my current beater which is actually a Lost World. It is certainly not my cheapest jacket, but the most "sturdy" which is what I was alluding into an earlier post. At least I am kind of doing it right... I think
But another completely stupid thought that comes to my head, is folding a nice leather jacket in the overhead compartment of your seat in the plane. I shouldn't worry about any of my jacket getting squashed there with all the bags, but it still stops me, so I tend to use the "sturdy" one for these occasions. Still have work to do, I guess.
It is fine to put something like a high end Japanese jacket, a goodwear or Himel in the overhead compartment isn't it?

The worst beating I can think of would be the jacket being squashed in a confined space really
