Test is great, at least the one I have 2 years ago is PERFECT.

Seems like in your case as well, the russet hide comes smoother than the black one... was that your experience?

Yet another second hand Vanson arrived today. This one is black comp weight Enfield. Nicely broken in but with a terrible cigarette stench. [emoji51]

Seller advertised jacket on ebay ”as new” ...I don’t complain about it being broken in, but I wonder which Vanson stockist sells new Vansons that smell like wet ashtrays?

Another jacket off to my local leather cleaner.

I found my 4oz Suburban russet was very smooth. My same in black had a little more obvious grain.
As soon as you get to 3oz’s there is a lot more grain. In black at least.

Very nice, I’m still geeking out over my recently bought on the bay Enfield, currently having its sleeves shortened at Byson Leather (I know this will affect the resell value but this one is a keeper... honestly).

This may very well be my next leather jacket. ( I know...I know..I was done.. ).
Any hints about this jacket..? Is it a tight fitter? Would a size 40 fit like a 40..??
Thanks

We're never done :D
Just send in your measurements, and they do tend to be tight fitting. So not sure what size you would be.
This one also works very well as a riding jacket (at least compared to other repro makers, haven't tried a Vanson or a more dedicated riding jacket yet)

LW PJ27 came in a few days ago. Had a chance to ride with it early yesterday before the rain came. This thing is heavy, my arms got a wee bit tired reaching for my apes. The leather is substantial, dense if that makes sense. More than than my Vanson, except perhaps the Comet, and Bates. Though it doesn't "disappear" on the bike like my Vanson, particularly the Force, which is also a police styled jacket. Trade-off I guess. I will be wearing it quite a bit though. Sleeves ended up maybe 1/2" short when on the bike and reaching but I figured that going in. Came with mouton collar.

The stitch-count and attention to detail "nuts" (said with respect and affection) would appreciate it too. :) I am very pleased with this jacket.

Is this 4oz plus russet? Must be over 8 lbs

I am not the original owner though I suspect/hope he is a regular here. I do believe that Stu normally builds these in the 4 oz unless specified. Feels like it, both to the hand and when worn but I cannot say with certainty. Indeed it is the russet.

I did order the scale discussed in another thread so I hope to weigh my jackets in the near future.

Perfect fit on a great looking jacket. If a deal was had, you’re a lucky fella
