How heavy is your aero jacket?

Because I’ve been researching into Cal and LW CHP jackets and how heavy the good ones can be etc - out of curiosity I weighed my two aero jackets:

- HWM 40 steerhide 2.5KG - that’s a shocker it’s so light!! I bought this second hand from Japan though.

- KoTR 40 HH 3.2KG - about 7.1Ib I think! When I ordered it I just said to the aero team use the thickest natural HH you could find - and they didn’t disappoint!

I’d thought the heavy HH aero days were in the past.

How much does your heaviest aero weigh, and from which era?

Mine are all around 6lbs, give or take, with the very heaviest weighing perhaps 7-7.5 lbs. Longer styles, cross zips, and motorcycle jackets are going to weigh more for obvious reasons. More material, heavier construction. Lining choice also factors in, the lighter cotton and wool weighing less than alpaca, quilted, or shearling lining.

Thank you guys it’s good to know all this! I should have clarified this is for short jackets only. I hope aero continue this moderately heavy HH going forward

That would be Horween CXL FQHH and CXL Steerhide. Both are well regarded, but you can search and find much more than plenty of information about these on here.

PHWM Black Badalassi, wool tartan, size 44: 2.7 kg/5.95 lbs
PHWM Cordovan CXSH, moleskin, size 44: 2,7 kg/5.95 lbs
J-100 Chestnut Badalassi, cotton sateen, size 44: 2,25 kg/4.96 lbs
Vincent Blackened Brown Vicenza, cotton drill, size 44: 2,25 kg/4.96 lbs

And yes, the first two and the last two really do weigh the same.
And I'm actually glad that the jackets aren't heavier.
