It looks like there may have been a thread on this back in 2008, but the photos are no longer posting. A friend made this out of pretty standard clamps. Seems one can remove and turn one end of the clamp around (reverse it), causing the clamp to actually widen rather than narrow. This allows the clamp to stretch something, rather than squeeze it.

First post since 2012,

That’s a pretty good idea. Cost a little to nothing if you have the clamps in your workshop.

Cool idea with the clamps. Will have to keep it in mind for other uses.
I can see me blowing up a bunch of hats with this cause i seem to be a 1 click too many kinda guy.
Be careful cause that “pop” will make you p__p!! Good idea though. Thanks
Be well. Bowen

I agree with Bowen, this would be a little harder to control. One click on a clamp may just send a sweat to sweat heaven. The threads on a standard stretcher are more forgiving to the ham fist folks.

Well now..that hat stretcher may be what some of us to cure that "long oval" need in a Fedora.....when using a normal hat jack, I will improvise the curved area with some cardboard from a box to help put that long oval shape in...but looking at this, it seems it would sure do a much easier job of that function. Thanks for sharing it!
