Daniele, Super nice. I know there were a good number of these Zlateff hats dumped on the market by Bulgarian sources around 10 -12 years ago. I actually got some great JHS hats that were not marked Zlateff but I am pretty sure they are Zlateff. I have tried to find out what happened Zlateff post WWII but haven't come up with anything.
You know Steve I have the impression, not supported by the facts, that a part of the hats branded for Zlateff or destined for him have been "hijacked" for issues related to the Second World War on other sales channels. Above all, hats from the Axis countries. It is only an impression given by the too many Zlateff-branded hats, almost intact appeared on the market and Sofia has gone through the war perhaps in a rather soft way, however the war has passed.

Daniele, I guess that is possible but the sellers that I got mine from were located in Bulgaria. They were all in NOS condition including the JHS hats. I am positive the JHS hat are from just before or early WWII. Someone here questioned that the Zalteff Borsalinos (and other Zalteff Italian hats) were pre or WWII era but I don't agree.

The Italian-branded Zatleff hats I have seen, various and different, were all provided before or during the Second World War when Bulgaria had a covenant-alliance with the Axis powers. In 1946 the political regime in Sofia and its surroundings changed completely and then it was political and economic history, the one that talks about the distribution of hats within the communist regimes.

Borsalino Trionfo sold in Sofia in the Simon Zlateff shop with the wind cord

The color is "Mirtillo" and the "type" is "Mula" (a female mule) Size is 6 1/2 Ancient French way to measure hat, a more simple 60 centimeters

It came from UK as many of the "Zlateff field" in Europe. I'm making some research to understand why so many Bulgarian hats surface in UK.

The Bulgarian homburg are alway marked "Mula" that is a type for Borsalino, that in the same years, produced more high end homburg in other shape and dimension at least for the Italian market

The proportions are the classic Lobbia Borsalino: 5.5 cm. curled brim, around 11.5 crown with a soft felt

I added another "Mirtillo" to my collection of the this color interpreted in a very bizarre way by the Borsalino dyeing man during the years
Very beautiful hat, Daniele. Still have to add a mirtilla homburg to the collection. Matt has one in nutria, which is a holy grail hat. This has me wondering though what homburg types Borsalino offered.

Off and on, I’ve been looking at this hat for months. It doesn’t have the wider brims I prefer, but the bigger concern is the color. I don’t want a novelty hat, but I’m not afraid of wearing some color. Is this hat wearable with business attire or is it too garish?

I am a big fan and collector of homburg, we use this name to understand each other, and I must say that those presented here, IVAR Homburg, have a very nice shape. The color of the first with the contrasting ribbon is interesting. Some reserves on the finishes, but this is only a personal opinion.
Continue like this and you will improve. Quasi bravo!

That is a beautiful hat in a lovely colour in my opinion.

I had a fedora in a very similar colour in the past and found it surprisingly versatile. I wore it with blue and grey suits and thought it worked just fine. I usually wore it with a tie of the same colour but that was just my personal preference. So I would say that you could wear it with business attire and that as long as you make it look tasteful it wouldn’t look like a novelty hat.

I’m aware that some people might not consider any classic hat appropriate with business attire but my view is that since a hat would only be worn outside (which for most people means to or from work but not at work) it can be worn with business attire.
