Hilarious McCain Quotation on Sartorial Matters

This is not political at all, so it should be allowable. After reading this, McCain may worm his way into my black, shriveled little heart.

New Yorker, December 17, 2007:

A professor (at Clemson University, South Carolina) asked about a piece of internet crime legislation that he argued would group terrorism researchers with actual terrorists. "Am I a terrorist?" the professor asked ...

The questioner was wearing tennis shoes, jeans, a pink polo shirt, and a gray blazer, and McCain looked at him carefully. "With these sneakers, you're not a snappy dresser," McCain replied after a pause, as audience members gasped and laughed. "That doesn't mean you're a terrorist. Although you terrorize the senses."

I like politicians with a sense of humor... Though having lived in DC for 3 years in the mid 90s (height of the Clinton years) I was screaming for someone to terrorize the senses. The people (or doctors and lawyers and such that everyone seemed to be) were what one would call well dressed but without any style...

These days I'm in the Geneva region in Switzerland and nothing has changed, this is even more conservative than DC (if that is possible)...:(

I want to subscribe to your news service.

They say anything about the closing Dow Jones? Basketball games? State lottery numbers?
Yes, Me too. ;) It would be great to know everything going on next Monday.

To be able to joke around under so much stress is impressive.

Paj, I'll happily take a dose of "dressing up without style" here in the land of tie-dyes, hoodies, and flipflops!

Begin, absolutely smokin' avatar.

YES, THE NEW YORKER IS A MAGAZINE. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND ALL PERSONS SUBSCRIBE TO IT. It is the best-written general-interest magazine in the country.

Its politics are moderately leftist (not as much as HARPERS), but, well, if that bugs you, then go ahead and subscribe and also get AMERICAN CONSERVATIVE or FRONTLINE and you'll have a nice balance (I get the first one).

Pink!

I just bought a fantastic pink Roper western button-down (~$65) for $15.96. I guess is not a popular color in the Cowboy world either! lol lol Ron

PS: I'm wearing a classic pink "Polo" (Ralph Lauren) with jeans, boots and hat today.. Quite a few compliments from the women in the building:D

The sneakers don't sound like the terrorism to me. It's the pink polo with the grey blazer. Actually I don't think that a pink polo is something I'd wear with anything. I'll leave pink for my daughter...

Caution: Off Topic. I guess pink is a good color on/for some folks, just not me. I just need to know because I have seen one. Is your Jeep pink too? :eusa_clap

I wore a de luxe pink dress shirt yesterday with a red 1930s ragged-bottom tie, my brown Stetson fedora, brown wingtips and a beige suit and I must say, I looked brilliant ... sometimes pink works for you ...

:eek:fftopic: Sorry if any toes got stepped on or anyone felt "insulted", my question was only on a Jeep color. I learned to drive in a Jeep that was pink.
