Heritage Hats, Phoenix

Wandered in the other day with my Borsalino needing a cleaning and a Stetson needing a brim trim. Rich, the owner/operator, wrote me up a receipt, promising to have the hat cleaned and ready for pickup within 3 days. He then took me to the back of the shop and talked to me about what I was trying to accomplish with the hat. After some discussion, he helped me determine what width I should go with, and trimmed the brim right then and there for me. He hooked up the steamer and shaped the brim for me and after some nice conversation, sent me on my way to complete my conversion.

I did learn that he is the ONLY hat shop remaining in Phoenix, and has a large selection of hats; cowboy, fedora, straw, just about anything you could ask for. Just wanted to give him props and let folks here know he is pretty easy to work with.

Rich is a top notch guy with a great selection. I've brought many hats to reshape there and treated with the utmost customer service. He just placed his fall winter line. He told me he getting Stratoliners and Saxons in almost every color. He also gets them 3 weeks early from any other local retailer. He has I'd say over 100 styles of fedoras, and double that cowboy hats.

My understanding is Az tec has closed down. I was only in there once, but in my opinion, Heritage is better.

I was in Phoenix for a few days last week and visited Heritage Hats. Quote a nice selection of new hats in all styles. The owner said he keeps about 3500 hats in stock but his stock doubles towards the holidays.

I've been wanting a new straw for warmer weather and picked up this Dobbs. It was a nice souvenir for my Phoenix visit.

I may be heading to heritage hats soon for a few hats to get refurbished

I’m about 14 miles south of them
I like AZTEX hats and they do amazing work however I must admit
50.00 refurbish hat
50.00 for a block and shape
50.00 for a wide ribbon
50.00 for a pencil curl
50.00 for that...
My 50.00 “steal of a deal”, the one in my lopsided profile pic, (black gold 20x resistol) ended costing about another 200.00

I love aztex they still make hats and I am impressed, I’m just too broke to use them

I’m going to try heritage and let y’all know how they compare

I’m cheap, but I also like quality. I’m always looking for the best value.

Heritage looks to be just a bit more than I’m used to spending, particularly his sweatband replacement:

Wow I think I may have to stick with aztex then. I’m about 5 miles from them and although their in house prices are about 100.00 more than the normal rate... they are in the heart of downtown “old town” Scottsdale, which is a tourist Mecca and this is the season we get hit with snowbirds

hmm I may just drive up to heritage to see what the hub-bub is about anyway

I went when I was visiting my brother this past January. The owner Rich was actually in the back working on a hat while we were there. My brother knows of my hats and figured that AZ Tex was skippable after I had mentioned both hat shops. I can't attest to the quality of the work, but they do have a wide selection.

I have to pay for shipping both ways, but VS, and now David Gibson, do great work for a fair price:
