As an update, I gave up and e-mailed Marc about an Adventurebilt Deluxe. He's just asking me what bash I want, and I'm researching that.

What about just buying a flat cap for now? Where would be the best place to get one of those if you live in London?

Londonboy, just walk down St. James' St. a few more blocks and you'll hit Lock & Co. Hatters. They have some of the best flat and 8-piece caps around, but take a look in Swaine Adeney Brigg again.
My favorite cap that has lasted me two or three years is from S.A.B., made by Herbert Johson- it's a 1 piece cap wtih a gray ground and a dark green/blue dusty woolen herringbone. I don't think they carry it anymore, as the salesperson told me they make their caps from remnants of their sportscoats from that season, but it'd be worth taking a look! If you don't have any luck, Lock may have something. They had some nice fedoras/trilbies, too. If it wasn't for the poor USD-GBP exchange rate, I might've bought one!

Really? Thank you for this information. When I went to Herbert Johnson, the only cashmere caps seemed to be from Borsalino, and I thought Lock had the better caps. Lock has a lovely grey herringbone cashmere cap that I covet.

Unless you really want a screen accurate Indiana Jones hat, you might want to consider getting the hat "open crown," meaning that it's round, and "open" to whatever shape you care to make it into. That way you can play around with different bashes until you find the one that you like best on your head. You can also change it every so often and feel like you've bought a new hat!
