Seems the best place to put this one....

I've fancied the idea of a Grail diary repop for years, but all the ones I've seen for sale have been fairly scary money. This looks to be a reasonable balance of nice and price...

Any Indy people out there any experience with this seller? I'm guessing at worst I could always rely on paypal's buyer protection, but....

Hi, Edward. I have no experience with that product. …That having been said, it does look like fun; and for a price that is very reasonable. If you go for it, please report back what you think.

On a side note, I have a few leather bound, blank/empty journals that I have bought over the years. One is now nearly filled with travel diary entries (Morocco, Egypt, Mexico, Europe), quotes that I have picked up along the way, plot ideas for unwritten books, and background notes on various topics that interest me (history, language vocabulary, trivia.) Even a few sketches. It was a bit slow getting started, but then got filled up enough that I started to enjoy the process. The book has become a fun browse over the years.

I purchased one from timid dot com and it is nothing like the pictures on their website.

I always keep a notebook kicking around, though I tend not to go for the pricey moleskines and such much as I like them, given how they would be defiled by my scrawl!

Useful to know. I'd expect at the price to receive something that looks 'printed' rather than 'real' (as compared to one of the £200ish Grail Diary replicas which I'd love but just cannot justify the spend on - as an aside, I will never understand why Lucasfilm didn't get their act together and properly merchandise that.... surely would have sold very well....), but that's very definitely not what was pictured... If mine isn't close to what was expected, I'll be straight onto Paypal, they've been pretty good about that sort of thing in the past.

Just received mine yesterday, and have had exactly the same experience as yourself. I've filed a complaint with Paypal, including my photos, their ads, a link to what they actually supply at a vastly lower price on Amazon, and a screengrab of a Facebook statement from the actual prop-replica maker whose photos Timid have stolen and used on their site.... we'll see what Paypal do. I've been clear with them that I didn't want to go the 'return' route because postage will eat up the bulk of the refund, and I'm the victim of a deliberate misrepresentation... We'll see what happens. I've generally found Paypal to be pretty good about this sort of thing in the past; just a pity I have to waste time waiting for the fraudulent seller's response (we'll see if they deign to send some excuse!) first.

Well, God bless Paypal (I hope @John Tainter had similar experience to me going through them). I have just received notification that Paypal reviewed my complaint, and have given me a full refund based on the "information" I submitted. I explained in the text that what I had received was not what was promised, and included a link to their website as well as a pdf, a screen-grab from social media of the actual prop-maker's post in which he confirmed the photos on Timid.site were copied from him, photos of what actually arrived, and a link to an Amazon listing for what they actually sent, which sells for a much lower price than they charge. (I do wonder whether they just order a load of these from Amazon and then sell on at a big mark-up!) I also pointed out that while they do offer a return and refund service, the postage is not refunded and that would be a considerable chunk of the refund gone when this is clearly a rip off operation. On that basis I was cheeky enough to ask for a full refund, sort of halfway expecting a partial refund, less the cost of the item actually supplied (I did point out that I wouldn't have bought what I was sent at any price if that had been specified). The seller didn't attempt to challenge it or even respond (I guess that's the nature of these operations, not everybody will think to complain or get around to it), and paypal have now refunded me in full.

So though it's not what I wanted, my somewhat lesser Grail Diary is now free. TBH, were it a freebie on the front of something like Empire magazine or a cinema promo, it's not bad for that. Perhaps a useful reference for putting together a diary in the correct order making your own. Not something you'd carry as part of a costume, though!
