Hi, I was wondering if anyone knew the style of eye glass frames the gentleman is wearing in the center. I really like them and would like to get a Pair.
They look similar to an early NHS 524 frame, in the Autumn Leaf colour. A bit lighter than the usual shade of Autumn Leaf, but there was quite a lot of variation between the many manufacturers of NHS frames. The earlier versions were more rounded and the design became more square over the years, from what I can tell.
Deadmensspex.com carry many pairs of really beautifully restored NHS frames, and their lens fitting and pricing is very reasonable. The workmanship is also first rate. I've had a couple of pairs from them, and I can't praise their service highly enough.
Savile Row Eyewear is the retail name for frames made by Max Wiseman & Co in London. All their stuff is still made in the same factory, largely on the same machines. Fascinating place and company. They made NHS frames also, so it's no wonder their current offerings look so much like vintage NHS designs ;-)
