Hey Guys,

Texting from New York.

I found this old Talon Zipper jacket, probably 30s/40s without any tag or anything.

The inside has been redone.

Does anyone recognize the type of the leather, brand and even the value of it?

Much appreciated
C.

Beautiful jacket. It looks like an early goat, 40s Californian. Regarding price, depends on size and condition to me. Most of those original vintage jackets tend to show up in the smaller sizes. A vintage size 46 will sell higher than a vintage size 40.

It has still some years to go, no cracks or breaking leather spots.
The linen has been changed and the zippers all are working fine. How would you price it? Its a 40 in size.

Trying to understand if what I'm buying is under or over priced.

Thanks

Beautiful jacket. Does look like goatskin. Take a picture of the main zipper pull and the stop box on the zipper assembly. The ball and chain are typically 30s early 40s.

The originality of the main zipper will also effect price.

You need to know the size by the numbers; measurements.

The main zipper is also original as the others, after a quick look i have seen written on the inside, USA and something else which i need a lense for it.

Unfortunately it is not with me rn.

here is a Sunrise Talon common on jackets from this era. This zipper has a date code that tells month an year.

The code is on the bottom of the stop box.
This code is K 0= November 1940.

K = the 11th month of the year, A = the First month of the year. The number is the year 0 = 1940.

The jacket my have another zipper which has the same code, but a different location.

The main zipper does not appear to be original.

from what can you see that? And how should the original be? thanks
Look at the inside part of the leather jacket. Sometimes you can see an older perforation from the previous zipper threats. If you can not see the perforation, then most likely is original. If the price tag in your images was the asking price, I would be all over that baby because it is my size and my favorite maker. The goat used in Californians is top-notch. I would rate that jacket and a complete steal.
