Wow, very interesting that you ended up getting the jacket I ordered. I never saw the jacket personally - my UK proxy measured it correctly and it was completely off. Seeing the leather I'm glad I never got it. But even now I stand by my opinion - SB can make a great jacket for a good price if you're clear enough with your request and very demanding with pre-shipping QC.
I think it adds character
Been there , done that. There you have it in a nutshell, unless your a fashion model or a stitch counter, you like it or you don't
LOL. The usual suspects throwing mud at SB again. Some people just can't let go it seems.
Bought two jackets from SB without any issues whatsoever. Plenty of people here who have been happy with their jackets from SB. Yet some one-off incident with someone's 'Pacific' gets brought up again and again, even though it happened more than five years ago and no one else had any major complaints about them.
Plus, if you check Aero's stock, you'll often see jackets returned because of wrong measurements, too. These things happen with every manufacturer, for cryin out loud.
As for OP, I think the sleeve adds character, but to each their own.
John Lofgren Monkey Boots Shinki Horsebuttt - $1,136 The classic monkey boot silhouette in an incredibly rich Shinki russet horse leather.
Grant Stone Diesel Boot Dark Olive Chromexcel - $395 Goodyear welted, Horween Chromexcel, classic good looks.
Schott 568 Vandals Jacket - $1,250 The classic Perfecto motorcycle jacket, in a very special limited-edition Schott double rider style. LOL. The usual suspects throwing mud at SB again. Some people just can't let go it seems.

What about companies that don't steal patterns but their countries tax authorities by selling under the table? Is it moral to buy from them?you'd probably want to know if they steal

Hear ye hear ye.Directed to no one in particular:
I am somewhat tired of yet another thread that started out as a genuine enquiry about a specific jacket and went on to become one of the usual, “Simmons Bilt makes ****ty jackets and is a fraudster company” thread.
Same thing with every Himel thread. Same weariness on my part.
No one needs to give money to SB, but those who did by and large are happy with what they get. The collabs are great and have no QC issues (I would assume because the collab partner is insisting on diligent protocols), the OTR jackets are the same.
For MTO it pays to specify exactly what you want. Yes, not solely the customers obligation, but others get it wrong too, once in a while.
Personally, I have had two SB jackets and both were fine. One Cafe Racer form super thick CXL FQHH was one of my absolute favourites and got compliments left and right.
As to the fraud. All this is well documented (here on TFL too). That was really despicable.
However: the perpetrators are no longer with the company. Criminal charges have never been pressed.
It is ok to draw a moral line here and take the business elsewhere.
On the other hand all that happened so long ago that in most European countries you would now be considered ready for re-socialisation even for manslaughter. AND it’s nothing to do with anybody at SB today.
Personally I wish, people would start to move on. Or at least not drag the same story out again every chance they get. Not my idea of treating people.
I was going to comment about how this thread seemed to be going off the rails, but you put it so much more eloquently than I could.Directed to no one in particular:

You'll be eating bad chocolate in hellNestlé products occasionally, so I will be eating chocolate in hell
Japan has a few decent jackets that they name as premium Horsehide not shinkiIt’s a pity this jacket didn’t work out, although I’d not mind the creasing/graining. I own three SBs and they’re of excellent quality. The Japanese hides are not Shinki, but Japan has several tanneries that produce hides that are of the same caliber.
In the 19th century ballsack leather was just for a tobacco pouch hahaI was going to comment about how this thread seemed to be going off the rails, but you put it so much more eloquently than I could.
With regards to this specific jacket, I'm sure there was a QC issue on it, but yet I would have kept it 100% if it didn't look so off-putting. More than the heavy graining itself, it's the unevenness of how it looks (the left sleeve looking heavily worn while the right sleeve doesn't; someone referring to it as 'ballsack leather' is right on the money) that's prompting me to return it. It's a shame because otherwise, I have no complaints with it - I like the design, and the creasing aside, it looks just as I envisioned when worn.
