OK folks, Winter is not officially over for another month, and who knows how the springtime will be? This dress overcoat is just the ticket for wintery blasts, and I wanted to offer it first here on the Lounge to folks who can appreciate everything about this Golden Age outerwear.

I am not certain of the date, but would guess the 30's or 40's based on the double breasted design and the length. There are no labels inside or out, so very likely a bespoke garment which appears to have only been used in the worst weather or the dressiest occasions. This is something that smacks of a Wall Street financier or a foreign diplomat. Think Winston Churchill or Bernard Baruch!

Extremely heavy - I would say it weighs 8 to 10 pounds. Condition is excellent - no holes, tears or smells - was a little dusty from long storage but has been freshly dry-cleaned. I would say size is a 44-46R - I am a 48R and I can get it on over my suit coat and button it - it is just a bit tight. Dimensions = .Chest 50", Length (back of collar to hem) 43", Sleeve (top of shoulder seam to cuff) 25"

Basic Black - would look great with a gray or blue suit. Or with a tux - or to top off the old soup and fish on a frigid night strolling to the Opera!

$100 shipped in USA (HEAVY). Or make a reasonable offer.

Very nice piece at a very good price. Astrakhan was and is very expensive.

A 1936 New York Times ad in my possession has a woman's full Astrakhan overcoat priced at $1,000. That's roughly $15k in today's money!
