Hear me out - Would it be reasonable to style like Aaron Taylor-Johnson in the movie ****** Train?

If you haven't seen the movie, I'm thinking of the character Tangerine and the outfit he wears.

I love the blues and how it is all layed out. Only thing I dislike is all the jewelry and how many buttons are undone.

Only worn a (black) waistcoat with matching pants + tie + white top for a couple special occasions with compliments.

In this case, it's organized much more casually. I'm tall and slim with curly hair so there's overlap.

Big issue is where to even get stuff like this. Don't have stores where I live that even sell half decent light blue dress shirts.

Please let me know what you think.

There's many websites selling such shirts ranging from £25 up to £500 and more. Look up Chester Cordite: https://www.chestercordite.com/store/c3/SHIRTS.html this is the nearest of my shirts to the blue that you seek:

The collar on my shirt is known as a spearpoint and the double, fold-back sleeve cuffs are referred to as French cuffs, you need cufflinks to secure them.

Looking good!

I'll have to find a good option in Canada!

Given it's a recent film - I've not seen it, but a skim over Wikipedia suggests it's set present day for when it was shot (2022), I shouldn't have thought it would be difficult to find the right bits to put the look together. Whether it's a look worth emulating will be entirely down to subjective preference. The modern vogue for a waistcoat, worn fastened, with an open collar and no tie (often even with the suit jacket as well) has always been jarring to me and not something I would gravitate too (though I'm not averse the a two-piece with a spearpoint collar spread over the jacket collar). However, as a rule I'm not much interested in any men's fashion post 1962ish, so that's unsurprising.

As a more general point, though, I would tend to the view that if you find a look you think you could work on a daily basis, there's no harm in taking inspiration from something you like on the screen, then switching out details to make it your own. Assuming the aim isn't to completely replicate for cosplay type purposes, I think that's often the best way to take a nod from a screen inspiration.
