casechopper & bowlerman: Actually, looking at that pic, the newsboy looks fine, you're right. I can't quite explain why I don't really get on with it!

The only hats I own and really don't like are a Stetson Temple and a Stetson Pinnacle. Both were bargains, thankfully. The Temple is my 2nd or 3rd in that model, and I haven't kept any very long, but when something pops up in my size it's hard not to pull the trigger. Won't make that mistake again. This is the cheapest-feeling, most powdery, runniest (colorwise), easy to warp felt I've owned. Sadly, the Pinnacle, which is all beaver, isn't much better. Both were made with crowns that look like "half a baseball" (Major Moore's words when asked to re-block the Pinnacle), when blocked out to open crown. Both have become my "experiment" hats, to use when I need practice shaping or trimming brims. I'm not a Stetson basher, I'd like to believe they are working hard to do better, but these hats just plain suck. Halloween is the only time either have seen any head time. Frank

I like this hat but not as much as others. Black Stetson Pinnacle with custom olive band & edge binding, 7 5/8.

I don't like this low crown Christy's Foldaway, 7 5/8.

This is a Statesman from Australia that I cut down & recreased. Don't wear it at all. Sweatband has a tear in it from making it a LO. 7 5/8

I hate the lavender thin ribbon so much I won't take its photo!

Just keeping it real, Randooch. That's how I roll. Like I said, I'm not a Stetson hater at all. I grew up wearing Stetsons and have owned more than I can count. I will definitely be in the line to get one of the new Fedorafest Stratoliners if they offer it in my size. It's just disappointing that the two worst hats in my small collection have to be from my old favorite hat maker (or at least from the corporation operating under the name of my old favorite hat maker). That Temple was so crummy I didn't even try to resell it, as I couldn't pass on such a piece of junk to a fellow hat lover. Looking forward to better things from Stetson. Frank

Two stick out in my mind.

I have a Steston Globester. Great brown colour, nice felt, thin ribbon and bound edge. I just wish it was just bigger in crown and brim dimensions. Worn it out of the house once. Just seems overall small. Very low crown. It would be a terrific travel hat as I find it seems quite crushable.

The other is a black Akubra Banjo Paterson. Nice felt and a terrific hat. Black just isn't my colour. I have worn it twice and been complimented, but I just don't do black very well.

I guess the Stetson Temples must be hit or miss. I have a sage Temple that my wife really likes on me and I wear from time to time with no issues.

If there's one that I dislike now, it's my two years old paper straw "Ultrafino Panama Hat." It's fallen apart though, the puggaree band, and the straw has been deteriorating. It's since been replaced the other day by a new SunBody hat (the 3 inch wide fedora model with the leather band). I may never actually wear that Ultrafino hat again, as it's in pretty rough shape, and both the crown and brim are flimsy and cracked in certain spots.
