It was always told to me by my grandparents and great aunt. [ all came from Alabama in the 30s ]Rusty, I did and it was a superstition I wasn't familiar with.

The other day I re-watched "The Devil Thumbs a Ride" with the great Lawrence Tierney (some great hats in that film, by the way), and afterwards I found myself tooling around online looking up other things with Tierney. Apparently Tierney had a one-off role on the sitcom Seinfeld as the female-lead's father. I watched a clip; very funny. I was struck, however, by his hat. Anyone have any idea of what hat this might be?
here is the video clip:Here are some close-up screenshots:

Any thoughts?
Ah, ok, that's what I guessed... I wasn't sure if it was just my lack of knowledge. This could be any one of dozens of hats. There isn’t anything unique about it to identify it as any particular make or model.
Maybe a VS with Glacier felt???This could be any one of dozens of hats. There isn’t anything unique about it to identify it as any particular make or model.

My parents generation. My male teachers in high school were like that too. Unbelieveable in the 21st century perhaps, but true. They grew up in the great depression and fought in WWII. Their parents and teachers were raised by people who had experienced the civil war, westward expansion of the United States and the resulting indian wars. They had very different attitudes about almost everything.
If she has a sister...........let me know.I know what you mean. I’ve gotten older but I’ve never managed the independently wealthy part. I’ve still got an eye out for an heiress who wants to lavish me with anything I want.

Mr. Deckard is, I believe, one of the site's founders. Or at least was in on the ground floor. He was also the lead designer for Stetson until 2016. It's him we have to thank for the Excellent Quality Stratoliners introduced several years ago and the return of the availability of open crown hats from Stetson.
Sent directly from my mind to yours.
Agreed. And Lance Henriksen can pull off the same kind of persona as Boone did in The Shootist. Just like in real life, some guys have it & some guys never will.
