Hats in Peru

On my recent trip to Peru, I was surprised by all the quality hat wear I saw there, among those who wear them on a daily basis. Some examples:

OK not all were into the high quality:

but it wasn't unusual to see the Quechua women in nice hats:

In the Hiram Bingham museum there were some pics of his expeditions, with some folks wearing serious hats as protection from the elements:

Then there was this scruffy guy in one of the rougher areas...oh wait, that's me:

I ran into this German man who obviously was into quality head gear. He was wearing an Akubra. It's nice to meet other folks who enjoy traveling in quality hats:

I asked this lady where she bought her hat, and she would only say "In el mercado." Which didn't help, because l looked in 4 mercados, no luck:
