Steve; Wow - more cool boxes. Those vintage boxes are so cool. Your collection should be featured at the Baltimore Art Museum at some time.

Where/how did folks store their hat boxes? If the hat boxes were visually interesting and artful in design, did folks in the 1800-2 to early 1900's display them in their living spaces?

They were probably stored away in closets with the more elaborate ones getting front billing.

My better hats are in boxes (most not vintage) so storing them is troublesome. :)

I'll be honest as I am a little sceptical of this one but it did come with the hat and it is a cool box.

I'm thinking they weren't still putting Whippets in those fancy Whippet boxes by the 50's so maybe it is the real deal. The hat does fit into it perfectly
