Good choice, its a real nice spirit, Don Julio has a clear añejo, Don Julio 70, tastes like chocolate, nice spirit too, not in my ballpark I am in love with Blancos, you cant hide defects in Blancos, anyway my Grandpa Loves Herradura Añejo, we got an agreement to drink Herradura Reposado, just in the middle, between Blanco and Añejo.It's a blend of Reposado, Anejo, & Extra Anejo, then aged two yrs in a French Oak cask. Chamuco, it is really smooth served neat & doesn't have the bite of a Blanco. I bought two bottles & I'm going back tomorrow for a couple more for my cellar while they're available.

I'm getting a nice black licorice aftertaste with just a touch of chocolate.Actually it increases the sweet aromatic elements in the spirit, that is why it feels soft and nice !!

Neat my Friend neat, in time you will get berries and even guava !!! 600 aromatic elements, twice of cognac.I'm amazed...I'm getting a vanilla nut or butternut with a bit of coffee taste up front, which turns to vanilla baked cookie-like, followed by the black licorice & chocolate aftertaste. It would be a shame to drink this any way other than neat or maybe rocks. I'm really liking this!
I have some Reidel tulips & small brandy's but I normally don't use them for myself...those things are expensive. But I'll try using one next time. I know they really help to concentrate the aromas.Google Riedel Tequila Glass,
BB, I don't know if I will be able to get anything more in flavors with my palate either but you can't miss the flavors as I have described them. And you have to sip it but it is so smooth that is not a problem compared to any blanco I have ever had where maybe you just throw it back. This has been quite enjoyable & I'm looking forward to trying some Don Julio.Wow! I can only dream of my palate being as refined as some of you fellows. I read everything you guys post and keep trying different spirits based on the reviews and comments. It doesn't seem that long ago that one had to travel a good bit to get beyond regional tastes. Thanks.
Try it you wont regret it....by the way....Riedel and Dobel Diamante...I have some Reidel tulips & small brandy's but I normally don't use them for myself...those things are expensive. But I'll try using one next time. I know they really help to concentrate the aromas.

I couldn't find that on the web HJ... I like all this teq talk between you and Chamuco. My go to's so far this summer have been Gran Centenario and Casa Noble. Both Anjeos.So I liked this Reposado blend of Dobel's so much I ended up with 4x750ml; 3 to be cellared away while it is still available. Bottle #216 is open. Bottles # 184 & #233 will be with the already cellared 4th bottle that I failed to record the # on.
Bob, I think what I actually have is a bottling for my retailer who bought a specific cask. They have 6 stores & specialize in good offerings. It says on the hang tag & label that this cask is a blend of Reposado, Anejo & Extra Anejo, the cask was filled with the blend in 2014 & bottled for my retailer in 02/2016. That's why the bottles have the special labels compared to the regular Dobel Reposado. And why I wanted to buy a couple more bottles while they were still available.I couldn't find that on the web HJ...
Thanks HJ. I believe I did find a clarified blend on their site called Diamonte or Diamond. I did find this quote concerning all Dobel blended product:

I enjoy the aftertaste of the black licorice (anise) with a bit of chocolate the most, I think. I get a bit of coffee taste up front but complexity of the vanilla depends on what I have eaten last, I'm finding out. For the full complexity of flavors it's best drank a couple hrs or more after a meal I believe.
