Dobbs Cross Country box 30s era. Could it be for travel? It's light weight and very sturdy. The hat rolls easily and slides right in. Stands 11 inches.
While back in Melbourne a couple of weeks back I paid a pilgrimage to the 100 year old City Hatters. Up on the top shelf I found this collection of Christy's boxes and a 1940's Fayrefield (which I'd photographed on a previous visit)...
This is the first paper Hückel Hatbox I have come across. It has is a protective felt layer around the top part of the inner cylinder. Shown with here with my Hückel Plume Melone.
