Folks,

I will be in Sydney for a few days next month. Does anyone have a suggestion as to a good shop to look in for hat purchases? I have purchased from RM Williams previously, but am not looking for that style of hat. I am looking at Fedora styles. I will be in the CBD, as well as in the Manly area. Thanks for any suggestions.

Hat World

There is also Hat World at SHOP F6, 683-689 GEORGE STREET (CNR. HAY STREET)

If you are willing to travel up to the Blue Mountains for a day in Katoomba there is:

The Hattery
197 Katoomba Street, Katoomba, 2780. Australia.

I tend to think that the service is a bit better in the Hattery which also has a great Hat Cafe (with fireplace) next door to it.

I'm with Mr. Zarniwoop on "The Hattery" in Katoomba. It's a longish train ride out of Sydney but there are worse ways to spend the day, the blue mountains are magic! I think many loungers have bought hats from them in the past through their online business www.hatsdirect.com. Very professional and love their hats.

Strand hatters is also well worth a look but is pretty pricey!

Any updates to this thread? The first link for Strand Hatters doesn't work anymore.

I'm going to be in Sydney in another day or two, and would VERY much like to go shopping for Akubras while I'm there.

My wife and I made the train ride to Katoomba from Sydney a couple of years ago. I highly recommend it. Ask for Jenny in the Hattery. Great to work with and a beautiful selection. While you're there, walk down the road a mile or so to the Blue Mountains (Australian version of the Grand Canyon. The Three Sisters in the are in Katoomba http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three_Sisters_(Australia)
Also, check out the Victoria Bitters beer (VB). It is not available in the states. Best beer I've tasted

Resurrecting this thread, I'm headed back to Sydney in January for a cruise, and want to pick up another Akubra. Probably a Cattleman this time. Will have to go to the Strand Hatters and/or Hattery. Will most likely be doing a Blue Mountain tour too.
