I have a high carpeted shelf built into my studio so some sit high ... sort of like something you would see in Sam Ash or Guitar Center or any of those awful monster chain garbage stores

problem is it only fits 3 kits ... so the others are stacked on the floor

no ... but that's not a bad idea...

though I usually only play one ... or two ... depending on the gig and style of music I'm playing that night

the rest just sit there and get dusted one and a while

Moon, I saw this pic posted somewhere else today and immediately thought of you. You might be able to decorate your studio for the rest of the month this way and solve a bit of the drum storage problem. Just a thought.

Yeah, moon. I saw that yesterday too and my first thought was - It's been done.

Too bad we couldn't have one with the original Moon the Loon before he was "taken away."

Not to brag, but I got to see Keith play with The Who before he died. It's still number one on my list of great concerts.
I only had one Dobbs back then and I stored it on a hatrack, so now we're back on topic.

I'm envious ... I was 4 when he passed

he is one of my heroes ... not a great role model of course but everything about him has intrigued me since I was very young

did you know that Animal is based on Moonie ?

I was at the Cincinnati show.

I never got to see the "real" Who, but saw this show, and several subsequent ones with Jones and Starkey. And I know we're off topic but, yeah, it was one of the weirdest nights of my life. My date and I didn't know what happened until after we got home. Oh, and Animal owes as much to Ginger Baker as Moonie, from what I've always heard.

Okay, youngsters... I saw Buddy Rich perform, up close, at his NYC nightclub back around 1973-4. Carly Simon was also in the audience that night... a lifelong memory. I was wearing my Lee private label lid.

Keeping off topic: I've seen live most of the great American big bands (including Buddy's) right from the mid fifties and no-one drove a big band like him.
I suppose you've heard that old one Moon?
"A big band is 15 musicians and a drummer!" (Sorry! - but I used to be a reedman)
You have some great hats - keep them coming.

I have dedicated my life to studying every notable drummer from Baby Dodds to Kendrick Scott and everyone in between

I agree that no one drove a band like Buddy ... but I will tell you that Louis Bellson and Ed Shoughnessy are pretty damn close

More off topic. More name dropping... I met Buddy when he opened for Frank at The New Haven Coliseum. I was working security as part of Frank's crew. Buddy's dressing room buffet wasn't as elaborate as Frank's and Buddy was picking at Frank's leftovers... we greeted each other and said "hello" but was strictly told not to approach Frank for any reason... An act that I managed played quite frequently at the club Carly Simon co owned on the Vinyard. Met her a few times in our dressing room and exchanged music pleasantries. Met Springsteen and "Little" Stevie in the dressing at the Lone Star in NYC when they attended a performance for one of my other artists and we all spoke briefly. Saw Zep w John Bonham, Hendrix, Cream, Allman Bros w Duane. Bored u all enuff. Big deal, with that and $250 I'll get me a Stetsonian.
