I saw somebody today in Wilkes-Barre, PA at the Walmart, around 5 or 5:30pm, wearing what looked like a DP Indy hat with pin. I was in my car, trying not to run over a bunch of kids, so I didn't say anything.

Was that anyone from here?

FL! anybody here see Justin Timberlake in concert? Several band members wearing Fedoras, some black & some white. JT was wearing a stingy brim in grey with a high crown. Almost like the "hot dog on a stick" hat...

You should have done your duty and told him about Adventurebilt.

I was out to eat tonight w/the wife and Father-in-law, we went to a very nice Italian restaurant not far from where we live.

We were just about finished w/our dinner, when in walks a gentleman, his wife, and what looked to be their son, he couldn't have been more than 12 or 13 yrs. old.

He was wearing a very classy, which looked to be fairly vintage 3 piece, double breasted vested suit, he was also sporting a nice fedora as well.

He got to his table, removed his lid and properly placed it crown side down on the empty place setting next to him. I was very impressed.

What impressed me more was the fact that his parents were very casually dressed, yet this young fella was all decked out, slicked hair and all.

When we finished and squared up w/ the check, on our way out I had to stop and compliment this young man on his full attire. his parents seemed very proud, as well they should be.

I happened to look inside his hat to see what the maker was. I didn't want to pick it up, but since it was open, I peeked in and asked him what kind it was?

He seemed a bit shy and his parents proceeded to chat w/me a bit. It said inside that it was a "Felt Lite", it had no liner in it and I didnt recognize it by looking, but it looked like a fairly decent hat.

His father told me that they were up in Mass. last week and found a huge antique auction with a store that sold exclusively fedoras. His mother said they couldn't get him out of there. lol

I asked him if it were the only one he had and his parents said, "Oh no, he has plenty". His father told me I looked sharp in my new cocoa Borso, and asked me about it.

I told him that I had stopped counting after 70, when he asked me how many I had. He was amazed that I could easily find vintage hats on ebay. I told him he should check into it.

I also told him about the Fedora Lounge and briefly explained the place. His eyes grew very big when he heard of it. His father seemed very interested as well. I told them to check it out. I'm confident that they will.

Before I left, I gave him a pat on the shoulder and told him to keep wearing fedoras, don't let anyone sway you away from not wearing them, as long as you get enjoyment out of it, that's all that counts. His mother gave me a wink and thanked me for chatting with them I hope to see them both here someday.

I just thought I'd share this little story with others who appreciate the wearing of these great hats as much as I do.

Thanks! :cool2:

It's great when the younger guys get it.

As long as this thread has been resurrected...
I got a horn-beep and a wave outside a pizza place while wearing my brown newsboy. It came from a passing yellow/orange delivery truck of some kind. Was that anybody here?

I was channelling the ghosts of a thousand stately old hat-wearers. ;)

And Bolt, indeed a super story. I hope that kid has what it takes to fend off teasing. Enough positive reinforcement like yours should do the trick.
