Hat cocking and Shaping

I just noticed something...

When I shape a hat, I cock it to the left. But... here's the funny part...

I make the crown straight (level). So when it's dry it's high on the bow side.

I didn't realize what I was doing till I saw two hats side by side. Both high on the bow side.

Not a bad idea but... I didn't even realize that I was doing it.

You may be cocking it to the left because you shape it that way.

Picture if you will the Leaning Tower of Pisa...when our friend has his hat sitting with the brim on a table, you could imagine Galileo standing on the crown, ready to drop a lead musket shot and a ping-pong ball off the side opposite from the bow. A very tiny Galileo.

Or so I think. MAB1, correct me if I'm wrong.

However, a picture would show us whether our friend is brilliantly quirky or just a little strange.

When I received my Chatham I was worried because it was not symmetrical - one side of the pinch was higher. Once it's on my head, my usual tilt to the right completely masks the difference, so I haven't bothered to change it. You can see that the crown is higher on the bow side in this photo, sort of:

Forget the batteries.

Just imagine that leaning Tower of Pizza on your head.

Cock it to one side... and it looks straight.

It doesn't take much imagination. Nuthin brilliant about it. Just my natural attraction to symmetry.
