Saturday, Nicki took me to the Lightner Museum in St. Augustine, Florida. The museum is home to a collection of collections. My kinda' place. And since St. Aug' is America's oldest city, I decided to wear my 100 year old panama.

The museum building was once the Alcazar Hotel complete with Russian Steamroom, Turkish Bath and assorted other luxuries which can still be seen inside.

Between you, Gene, and Mr. Paladin we've gone on two pictorial vacations all in one day! Thanks for sharing those great photos with us.

And Lefty! His recent trips to the Freakshow and the seaquarium inspired me to document and post this little trip for all to see. :)

My favorite hat pictures are of them on noggins out and about. It's really the only chance I get to see others in hats 'in the wild' and I sure get a kick out of it. Thanks for your wonderful addition Gene. On our trip last week I saw 3 straw cowboy hats after traveling through 4 states:rage:

Oops, I missed Lefty's thread. I'll go and check it out.

I am amazed that that's a 100 year-old Panama! It's held up well.

This is how it was when I first acquired it. Sent it to Graham at Optimo up in Chicago to have him block it. He FLIPPED. He was the one who said it was likely made around 1900 or 1910. :)

Great Pictorial and looks like you had a fantastic Birthday! Always great to see that spectacular Arcentales Optimo. Finishes off a great week of hat-travel photos. Thanks for sharing these pictures and your knowledge and enthusiasm with all of us here.

Hey Gene,

As a fellow (former) Floridian, I enjoyed your pics. We went there several times as kids, and my sister attended Flagler Univ. there about :( ?20? years ago. Looks like you had a great day, and you look great in that old rollup Panama. Many more to you!

When I first got married 20 years ago, my in-laws, who lived in Tampa, took us to St Augustine for a great weekend. What a fabulous wonderful place! As I recall, we ate at a nice place called Dollar Bill's. But I may be having imaginary memories again! Anyhow, thanks for posting those nice pics.

Looks as if you had a fantastic time! Great pics! I need to revisit St. Augustine, it's been a good ten years since I was there... and here it's just the right distance for a great day trip, too!
