Madame may I have this seat? I am not good at conversations but women find me good to lean on. Good listener to happy drunks  it depends what’s at the bar, These days 1 or 2 drinks is enough, I am no party animal, rather mellow, tend to be on guard, helpful to others, if there is reason to do any serious drinking I do that at casinos where no driving is involved, still I try to watch how much I drink, I also have a back problem (disk) which bothers my feet as well as my back, not wise to drink much with that type of pain.

Neither angry nor happy, I'm an awful, really selfconcious drunk, who tries too hard to keep decorum.
1-2 drinks, and I'm unravelling and conversing animatedly about books, architecture, gossip. I may even kiss you. I'm an intellectual bombshell. 3 and I'm sloppy, trying to hide my drunkness, getting preocupied with how I walk, how loud I'm talking-- usually too loud. 4, and I lose my head entirely, drifting out of conversations, getting paranoid, imagining duplicity, etc. 5, & I'm sleeping, or lying on the tile. Sigh!

Right here! Well, when I can remember...[huh]

Actually, when I used to drink, I would cover ALL the bases, usually in a single evening: happy to sad to mean to obnoxious to black out to gregarious to under the table. There's good reason I don't partake of ol' John Barleycorn no more - I'm allergic to alcohol: I tend to break out...in handcuffs.

Neither. I try very hard to ensure that I'm never more than mildly tipsy, by which I mean enough alcohol to feel that I've had a drink, but not enough for it to have any further effect. I've been really, wasted-drunk only about four times in my life, and I regret them all. I actually don't enjoy being drunk: I know I'm making an eejit of myself, it's like I'm watching myself out of body and my brain is screaming at me to sti still and shut up, but.... I lose my inner monologue if I'm blottoed. I've never been aggressive; either I turn into a hysterical five year old and dance on tables, or I'll become hidously maudling and cry for hours on end for little or no apparent reason. After oscillating wildly between both at a birthday party last year, I've become extremely careful about how much I drink - never want to be drunk again. In recent months my alcohol consumption has dropped to virtually nil anyhow - I've never been a drinker at home and often when I'm out I don't much fancy a drink either. I'm on medication at present which makes it a bad idea to drink much, so I'm mostly the sober one.

I like it when women I find attractive are a wee bit drunk, though, as I'm sure it makes me more attractive in their eyes. :p lol Not that I'd ever take advantage of course!

Many years ago I was a consistently mean drunk. Bad place in life, ridiculous amount of insecurity. Took it out on people I cared for most. Intervention and all. I worked thru it, salvaged a few relationships and learned never to drink when upset or unhappy.

Now I can definitely attest that I am a happy drunk (though rarely drink more than 2 at a time). Better outlook begets happier drunk I say.

I hear ya. Alcohol relieves people of their inhibitions, mostly with dire consequences! Also it's a depressant, not a stimulant so the result of over-imbibing is depression whether one realizes it or not. :(

Both, actually

I find that I am for the most part a happy drunk, I don't drink to excess very often, I've been falling down drunk maybe once in the last 5 years. I do find that a quick 2 or 3 in the first hour or so and 1 an hour after that keeps me out of trouble.

I tend to listen a lot until you stumble across an area where I actually do know something and then it's "Damn. Hide, it's Professor Jason". If you want to know too much about 16th century cavalry tactics or big bore rifles wait until I've had 4 or so and I won't shut up.

As for the mean part, well I don't put up with ignorant aggressivness sober, so when I'm drunk if you would like to pick a fight, I'm your man. Of course, if you're just playing to the crowd and your girlfriend, I find that getting the Georges Laraque treatment makes you look like an idiot:D

Happy drunk most of the time, but I rarely have more than a few. I find different drinks (beer, wine, hard liquor) would hit me differently as well.

I don't think I ever got mean while drunk. But I have had a few of those cry-in-your-beer nights. Usually brought on by a romantic spat/breakup, and brought to a close with the technicolor yawn (aka, 'praying to the procelain god').

I get happy and obnoxious.... and sometimes loud, but rarely angry.

Senator Jack - what say you? I had ...quite a few in me when we spoke at Dances of Vice!

That is so funny but I know it was not. Sounds like my honey about 30 years ago. He actually broke into a jail like Otis in his childhood hometown. We got a bill for fixing the door. :eusa_doh:
I was not amused in any shape, form or fashion. Thank God those days are long gone.

Depending upon the company, when I have gotten intoxicated in the past, one of things tends to happen:

1. Amorous drunk. Enough said. This tended to be back before I was married, and often had a few beverages in groups of people with attractive single young ladies.
2. Quiet drunk. I get very quiet and begin to contemplate deep and meaningful things, like where my future lies, the meaning of life, etc.

Neither makes me mean, and the introspective mood doens't necessarily make me happy either.

The worst drunk was a few years ago on New Year's Eve. A friend brought CANNED champaign! OH, it was not pretty. I ended up pole dancing for my husband in front of everyone to "Give Me One Reason To Stay Here" by Tracy Chapman. Made a complete fool of myself.
But then, hey.. I remember my husband doing a pole dance first! LOL! New Year's 04.

since I got married I don't get drunk

because I'm a happy, amorous drunk. Knowing that, I realize it is OK to get tipsy, but there is no reason to go farther than that, and potentially do something that would bring emotional pain to my wife and cause her to no longer trust me. Of course, when my wife and I go out, she gets the benefits of me having a second or third cocktail ;)

I can enjoy myself in any situation sober, so no need to over-embibe. Also, at my age, it is more dignified to enjoy the drink and company than to be the 'drunk old guy'.
