This is cool, glad to meet fellow hams. Both my husband and I are hams. Since we tested on the same day we have consecutive call signs, which is pretty uncommon.
I was gung ho for morse but only passed enough of it to get to my general license. My husband just waited until they dropped the requirement... But his truck is bristling with antennas. He works a lot of hf and also the local repeaters. I get bored talking about signal strength and weather so I don't talk much anymore.
I do have a huge collection of old tubes and military radios and calibration equipment. We have an Elmer who is a genius. He worked in the Secret Service under several presidents and this guy really knows his stuff. Right now he's got my '62 Grundig Hi Fi! He can take a tube and make it do several different things.
You know, it's sad but when he does pass away it will be like the hugest library in the world just burned down. That guy has forgotten more stuff than any thirty people could cram into their brains. You don't meet folks like that too often.
73's, warm and sunny here.
