Bernie Schwartz was a talented man of style. But when he changed his name to Tony Curtis, everything fell into place for him.

How right you are. Schwartz would have given away his Hungarian Jewish ethnicity, Anglicise a name and suddenly both the name and the person is acceptable. It was much the same for his cohort, Issur Danielovitch Demsky, whose parents were Russian jews. Anglicise his name to Kirk Douglas and suddenly, "he's one of us."
That might broach into politics, but really, it's a sad indictment of humanity.
