Gustin is trash: Sent me the wrong size and refused to refund

I recently got a pair of 1968 jeans of size 33 from Gustin. On their website, it says the waist size would be 33.5 inch. However, they sent me a pair of jeans that measured 32.2 inch on the waist and I could not put them on. When I brought it up with Gustin, they helped me return it, but then told me the jeans actually measures correctly and would only give me partial store credit.

I get how jeans QC is not the easiest thing, and I would have been happy if they just refund me. Telling me my eyes are wrong, however, is something I do not appreciate. I cannot recommend anyone to buy from them.

I’m sorry to hear that, bad service to be sure.
I’ve ordered a number of things from them over the years and like @Guppy I‘ve found their sizing inconsistent. They do make some really nice things for the price if you know what to look for. Their leather bags and duffels are first class and great value for the price.

New jeans usually fit pretty tight in the waist when new. If they fit perfectly when new, they'd be falling off you once they break in a bit. I personally don't find the sizing off enough to expect a full refund. They aren't made of leather, they're cotton and will stretch a bit.

I've no doubt they don't fit you though. I'm a pretty standard 32 in jeans and I've bought 32, 33, and 34 in Gustin jeans. I could button the waist (though it took some work), but the cut was just too slim for me and I'm not a big guy and always bought the straight fit.

I agree that sizing off is normal (although more than a inch is pretty bad among good denim brands in my experience). What pisses me off is they are trying to tell me the sizing is all good and would not refund me

My gustin stuff has always been ok,,it could have been worse, you could have shelled out for lawless..remember them?

Now there’s a blast from the past.

I like Gustin but only for their jeans. Even then, I’ve had a couple that were wildly too small over the years. They should at least offer to take them back for credit. That’s what they’ve always done for me. Good luck!

I have a few of their offerings and agree that the sizing is all over the place.
The quality/price ratio is good though, not crazy good but definitely fair.

Too bad , however if everything elses fit like thigh , hip, and length, waist of a jeans is the easiest part to stretch out with just squatting or sitting without belt after few wears.

Was that within their "tolerances"? I can't remember if they say +/- 0.5" or something of the sort. I had a similar experience with Bravestar, and they had worse customer service. While the denim was decent quality, I won't be buying from them again.

I will say, I have had a couple of pairs of Gustin jeans over the years, and they've measured out pretty accurately for me. They do stretch a bit (like 0.5-1"), but their measurements should be for the jeans brand new.

Gustin's kind of meh for me. As Fonzie said, price/quality is just fair.

That's weird because I've returned a lot of things to them and they've never given me a problem about a full refund. I'll never order anything from them again though because maybe over half the items I got from them had some sort of issue...jeans smaller than spec in the waist, shirts where the pattern was crooked etc etc. I just returned 2 long sleeve thermal T's because I bought a 4-pack size L and two of them were about a half size smaller in fit and length than the other 2 LOL. I ordered a whole whack of their T-shirt 4 packs in size L once, in different colors, and several months later when they started arriving each set I received the shirts were gradually smaller than the previous set. I bought like 4 or 5 sets. 1st set great, 2nd set a little snugger, next set a little snugger still etc until the final set...too small to wear. It was the craziest thing. That final set went back btw for a refund. But yeah, nothing's more frustrating than buying something, waiting 4 months for it, and having it show up with an issue YET AGAIN. So yeah, never again with me for Gustin. But again, they've always been great with me about returns/refunds.

If I were you I'd just file a credit card dispute and get your $ back that way.

The first, last and ONLY time I dipped my toes in the Selvidge Jean fad. Spent money, never got my jeans and haven't trusted a web only start-up since. Lesson learned.

Worf

Lawless? LOL. I still have 1 pair of their jeans and 2 of their belts. I got suckered in also but I made it out OK. I actually received some of what I ordered, and some of what I didn't receive I was able to get them to refund me, and what they didn't refund me I was able to get back out of them by filing credit card disputes. Even though I got all my $$ back in the end it was a whole lot of time wasted, but I was one of the lucky ones, many others weren't so lucky

How do you like your lawless? There are still some on secondary market, and I got two pairs. I like them quite a bit, even a lot.

Those were the days! I got a free shirt out of Lawless; unfortunately, it was too small. It arrived months after the initial pro-Lawless euphoria turned into a panic, culminating in everyone filing chargebacks.

Back when Roman (founder and owner of Lawless) first arrived on the scene, I vaguely recall Gustin hosting a short-lived forum that they ultimately shuttered after the Lawless enthusiasts, headed by erstwhile frequent-TFLer Butte/Scott, started a mutiny over Gustin's poor QC and customer service. There was one wild evening--and I use that tongue in cheek--when, looking for a temporary home to discuss all things Lawless, they took over the denimbro forum, much to the chagrin of their members, who weirdly operated that webpage like a bunch of serfs who had sworn fealty to the forum founder, their feudal lord. (To his credit, Butte/Scott was not too inclined to bring the rabble rousers here.) They ended up starting another forum, selvedgestyle.com, that miraculously is still up and running but is a veritable ghost town. Good times...

those days I wore skinny jeans, and thinking what are these guys smoking to get so worked up about pajama cut pants made of fiberboard, and how minimalist wardrobe slogan buy less buy quality thing was complete BS , because every single denim bro out there have 50+ pairs of denims jeans and perhaps 30+ pieces of flannel shirts, 10+ truckers, 10+ pairs of almost identical workboots, and spend a cool few hundred $ to buy just for some white undershirt tees, even in my local scene it seems to me people spending 1/3 of their monthly income to buy some new jeans and stuff to post pictures on forum to stay relevant.

I am a denim bro and have literally worn my iron hearts almost daily for 8 months now. I do have one other pair but I'm still too thick for them.

I miss old Butte/Scott. I remember he stormed out of here in a huff after that asshat Big J was giving him a hard time about something stupid and meaningless. I always thought he would return someday but he hasn’t yet…

I'm typing this wearing 5 years old 19oz double knee jeans I've been wearing 24/7 since last november too, but strangely by comparison the fading and wear on mine is equal to someone's 3rd month picture in fading competition, it's complete mystery to me how people wear out their jeans in those days, like 25oz IH turned into tattered mess under 2 yrs, perhaps they restarched their jeans to maximize fades but paying the price of early/ annual wornout of supposedly quality jeans.
