I can"t wait to see these on my PC!

You are going to see some amazing and very surprising stuff. The ads for hats alone are myth-busting!

For instance, take a look at the first hat ad in this April 1917 issue (scroll down a tiny bit): http://books.google.com/books?id=Be...&dq=editions:OCLC33910629#v=onepage&q&f=false

... and in this February 1918 issue (scroll down a tiny bit): http://books.google.com/books?id=Nw...&dq=editions:OCLC33910629#v=onepage&q&f=false

Thanks for the links Marc. Once again you provide the impetus for a broader and deeper understanding of styles from the past.
I've downloaded the pdfs and am already fascinated by a silk "triangle hook" used to keep soft collars in place!
So many topics to discuss, so little time..

Same problem... Region restricted?
Yes, maybe. I looked at another free e-book again and it works. Same with the LIFE magazine. We should see it at once...but we can't.

How big are the pdf files? Could someone from the US send them to us per email perhaps? :)

These are fascinating. It is sad that there no longer exist such stores and store windows as those shown in the photos. ESPECIALLY sad seeing the Detroit ones. There isn't even a place to buy a pair of socks anywhere in the city proper these days. I was definitely born about 70 years too late.

I can see where those 50s straw hat stylings got their inspiration.
