Well said there...^^

Very nice jacket and I agree that you should have a little room with one of there, just not *too much* room :)

Looks great on. I've always gone slightly larger in my jackets that I want to layer up under for the Winter - a shearling that I can only wear a shirt under is too limited for me. Needs room for a hefty sweater on top of the shirt.

I found my B3 (LW) took longer to break in than the Irvin owing to the somewhat heavier sheepskin and the horesehide panels. After a month or so, it was grand Still, inevitably, heavier than an Irvin, but not restrictive.

Congrats and I think it looks great!

The sleeve length is of course up to you. Charles, what would you think of a Long size for him? I got a Long after my Irvin fit a hair short and it was absolutely the right call. Remember, nothing takes the coziness out of a warm jacket than exposing your wrists (or your lower torso) when you move an inch.

Having said that, the fleece will compress and the leather will soften. That doesn't mean that it will make a clearly small jacket fit better. But it will make a decently fitting stiff jacket more comfortable as it happens.

I gave Charles fits way back in 2000 when I got my redskin B-6. It was my first nice jacket (not sanded, pre-beaten, etc) and it felt like someone had made me a jacket out of a cardboard shipping box. It was incredibly uncomfortable and I feared too small.

But, over the years and with a fair amount of conditioning (something which I've since learned was probably not strictly necessary) the jacket slowly softened, settled onto my shoulders, and became soft...though still tough.

Personally, I don't mind the bigger fit, though my Irvin still looks a bit like I am being eaten by a bear...a soft luxurious bear to be sure. But, just be aware that there is what I think of as the "New ELC Crazies" where the jacket fits like it was made for some other species when new, but becomes much more livable after a season or two.

I still am of the opinion that ELCs go from "Hmmm," to "Wow!" In about three years. Considering my B-6 is now 17 years old, that's not so bad. ;-)

Wear it in good health!

Deacon211, I agree with everything you said here! You, sir, are always looking perfectly fitted in every jacket you've posted while being worn by you - a testament to getting it right. And while the overall look on this man isn't at all bad, I agree that a long would seem to be a better size: when shirt sleeves are longer than jacket sleeves, that's not a good thing, in my opinion. Those at 6' 1" tall and in size 44 are sometimes borderline calls in a B-3, and we'd look at shirt-sleeve length and back length to aid in making the best suggestion of size. I don't think the body length is all that much too short, but, once again, it would do him no harm to have the B-3 1" longer. As for the RAF jackets, that's a whole different deal with their shorter body lengths and longer sleeves.

I think the jacket looks great. It could stand to be a bit longer...or not: sometimes the longer sleeves invite a host of whole new problems for the wearer. In my opinion, what you really need to do is put on the jacket and go chop wood for a couple or three hours. You'll be amazed at how well it fits after the ordeal!
