I finally took the plunge and sent my $200 deposit to Good Wear last night. I specified a Bronco pattern with Dull Russet Horsehide, medium golden brown knits, light olive thread and nickel repro Talon. Waiting time is 18-22 months.

I was hoping you could provide me with some pictures and information. If anyone could provide pictures of the following, that would be great.

-Bronco pattern fit pics
-Dull Russet Horsehide worn-in pics
-Californian Racer fit pics

John Chapman uses Shinki, right? Which patterns are your favorite? Can anyone who owns the Californian Racer tell me how it compares to other Buco J-100 repros?
18-22 months!!? Holy smokes, You could get married and have 2 kids in that span of time!

Beautiful A2, Chamboid! Perfect in every way and it suits you, Sir!

I think some things worth waiting for, Mendelboaz.
And as mentioned, there's plenty of time to sock away a little cash along the way … so, good for you! At least you have your place in line. :) It'll be worth it.

That's what I thought too! A lot of things can happen in two years...if I'm still around. But I went ahead and put in an order with John. Although it seems like yesterday, already 6 months have passed.
Meanwhile, to satisfy my collecting urge and pass the time, I've been scoring some amazing vintage motorcycle jackets.

I'm just under 12 months into the wait for a Modoc.

I finally put the deposit down at the beginning of the year after a few drinks one night lol.
I'm so glad I did, its really helping me from making any other purchases, knowing that this is coming my way at some point. PLUS all I have to do is put a little aside each month and it will be already paid for before its even made!

I cant wait to get it but the wait is actually helping with the addiction if you know what I mean ;)

Oddly, the wait on the GW makes it the ideal jacket to buy. It may be expensive, but that wait time gives anyone the opportunity to get one by putting a lil aside every month. But what's hard is that last month or so. When you can taste it, it gets really really hard to hold on. Payoff: worth every cent/day...

As long as you don't make the mistake of trying to outsmart the makers. Don't fudge numbers, etc. They know how to make a jacket. This goes for any maker, but when you wait upwards of two years, don't get funny.

While the chatter is about Good Wear, I've been in the queue for a while and I expect the call in a few weeks, But I have a question.. How open is John to making modifications.. Would he make the racer without the zippered
Sleeves? (I know, I will ask him directly when the time comes but..) anyone have any firsthand knowledge. I know he is sometimes open to a new jacket model i.e. .modoc, imperial. But I love the racer but I could do with out the zippers on the sleeve.. Would he put the modoc sleeves on a racer..

we could speculate, but better to go direct on this one. The Modoc/ Imperial cuffs are very different than the cafe racer. Maybe just a solid wider cuff. I'd go in with pictures to show him.

^^ Yeah, your right. I'll sit tight until my number is called...it's funny how I think I've decided on the jacket I want, then change my mind a week later.

Boyo, JC will not make any modifications . . . he is a tyrant and completely inflexible . . . moreover, his prices recently tripled and he is using vinyl instead of leather . . . and he is a fascist . . . you should transfer your GW spot to me and buy a custom Aero instead . . . what do you say? ;)

These jackets may turn out like rare (new)sports cars with potential buyers paying more $$$ than new for secondhand jackets ;)
