All about the monarch, though it's a tight fit. My 44 measures closer to a 40 or 42.

The only recent pic I have of it lol (dull russet shinki with OD thread)

GW Rough Wear 27752 in Seal Shinki horsehide made in 2013, these photo are from around two years ago and lighting isn't very good I'm afraid.

Size is 48" reg which equates to a 46" reg however after losing some weight and with it being a Rough Wear which are roomy in the torso at best, it's too big so doesn't get much wear at the moment but can't bring myself to move it along as I just love the jacket.

I would possibly purchase another GW but this time I would go for the Dubow 20960 contract in Seal brown
but can't bring myself to do it because of the two year wait period, maybe look at a used jacket but would need to go down a size I think.

I've currently been wearing a nice 1971 Brill Bros G1 and I've have an Eastman B-10 on order (currently being made for me as they were out of my stock size) on the way plus it's been too cold for A2s so far this winter.

Bretron, that's a stunning hide - what is the colour, dull russet? Luca, that's mighty fine Cable. I owned an original but sold it on as it just didn't fit. It was a 38, but it was too long and the sleeves just piled up on my wrists.
Marv, the Roughwear is one of the nicest patterns, but I'm pretty slim around the middle with broad-ish shoulders, so I'm looking at something like Dubow or Monarch, though I'm willing to be swayed by some of these great photos!

I love the Monarch collar - great shape and sits really comfortably. Chamboid, are those the gold knits? Very nice. The Monarch is very tempting. I have been contemplating an early contract Dubow, but seeing both yours and Andrews...

Yes they are the 'gold' knits. They compliment the colour of the jacket nicely though not strictly authentic to the contract.

I'm thinking of going for a NOS type thing. A faithful repro that looks as if it had been found hidden but unworn at the back of an old surplus cupboard.

That's exactly what I was thinking, which is why I liked the idea of the gold brown knits with the thought if fading in mind.

Bretrons IS the dull russet. It's a very different feel than the other Shinki hides. Softer.
Thx Eric. Yes it's Shinki, the dull russet. It has varying tones depending on the light. Sometimes I think it's too light for my taste and other times it looks untouchable. It's dense yet supple. I've beaten mine up rather substantially with a soak and stretch. Better than giving up my 4 IPA and a burger lifestyle :(

Sloan, in truth you can't go wrong. Find the contract that has the specs you like (fit, collar construction, leather/thread/knit/lining/zipper/snap/blah blah blah); Mr Chapman is sure to not disappoint

If I were to do t again if do the same jacket all over again (just a bit bigger haha)

Looks perfect from the back! Bret, you can just tell people that you're wearing the jacket the same way the originals did: keep going until you get too big for it, then stick in the attic/sell it on/hand it down.
