Maggie Gyllenhall looks stunning in those pics! I think it helps that she's got quite a strong look anyway, reminds me a bit of Charlotte Rampling.
I spent most of the mid 80's in mens shirts, jackets and ties, although usually teamed with a floor length skintight skirt. I'm not sure now what I was aiming for, but it worked!
I need to get a pic to post in this thread. At my bartending gig, our uniform changed (as a bartender and cocktailer I used to be able to wear whatever I wanted, which usually meant a pencil skirt and cute blouse) to what I call "imitation 20's gangster"...the servers hate it. Pants (preferably pinstriped), collared shirt, tie and suspenders. Bartenders can wear vests, and we all have to wear fedoras during events. Everyone thinks we look so cute, but I sure miss wearing my skirts to work. I am thinking about asking the owner if I can wear a jumper with an oxford and tie, as she always encouraged my skirts!
