texasgirl said:yeah, trust me they're not enviable. I've tried to get insurance to cover a reduction, but no luck yet. The grass is always greener...
I got mine last week and love it, my hubby says it gives me a lovely shape.MissS said:Hi Ladies!
I finally managed to look at something other than the Beauty threads and well, after reading all of your posts, I just thought I just HAD to have one of those fabulous Rago waist cinchers from What Katie Did that you all rave about.
Well, just so happened I my boss suprised me with a payrise today, so I've just placed an order! Can't wait! So excited...now, all I need is for the weather here is Aus to cool down a bit so I won't melt with more than 1 layer of clothing.....

paula said:my 2 vintage girdles arrived today!
i have a question for the girdle wearers in here:
I would normally wear a panty girdle over a suspender belt.
like, i'd put on my belt and stockings and pull the panty girdle over the top (saves hours in the ladies room...)
but with an open bottom girdle, what kind of underwear do people favour?
im a fan of Big Pants.
do you think this is going to create all sorts of unsightly lumps and bumps?
KittyT said:Either wear none or wear a thong and just pull it to the side in the ladies room.
i was afraid you were going to say that
thongs are not an option for me.
i'd rather wear it on my head than spend all day, you know, adjusting it!
Also, if you're wearing a panty girdle over a suspender belt, why not just consider getting a panty girdle that has suspenders attached?
i've been looking out for one but have only seen them in much bigger sizes...

You can get them in regular sizes at places like girdlebound, alexis4u.com, secrets in lace, ladygrace.com, freshpair.com, even Amazon. I have a Rago Diet Minded panty girdle that I wear pretty much every day. You can check out their website at ragoshapewear.com for info on their girdles and size charts. The panty girdles are definitely not hard to find. I even see regular-sized ones on Ebay all the time.

are they new/deadstock ones?
LizzieMaine said:Tap pants are definitely a good and period-appropriate choice for wearing over open bottom girdles -- they can be hard to find in a true vintage style, i. e. not low-rise, but once you've got them they're extremely practical for everyday wear. The Nancy King lingerie line had, up until recently, a very traditional style of high-waisted, elastic-banded nylon tap pants, and a bit of hunting around online might find them still in stock from some dealers.
KittyT said:So tap pants are cut low enough in the crotch to fit over an OB girdle? I know most OB girdles on me hit mid-thigh, so the crotch would have to hang down practically to my knees to fit over them.
LizzieMaine said:The old-style tap pants were designed not to fit close in the crotch -- in that respect they were more like a baggy pair of men's boxers than the styles commonly sold today, so there's generally enough room for them to fit smoothly over a girdle. I wear my own OB's to hit just below the derriere, rather than pulled down to mid thigh, so that may be a factor too.
