when I was 14 I had a CE2K, witnessing a UFO at about 150 to 200 Yds, it lasted about 3 or 4 minutes and was very intimidating...

When I was 42 I had an Out of Body Experience in a Hospital while I was in a Near Death condition...It was life changing...

Never experienced any Ghost encounters...

I absolutely believe in ET's, UFO's, ...

I'm convinced Earth has been visited from Space many, many times...

One problem is the public, much like this thread, lumps together what are vastly different topics as if ghosts, extraterrestrial life, time travel, if it's even possible, and extrasensory communication are related phenomena. There is no relationship and one or more can exist independently of the others. I blame Barnes and Noble for sticking the UFO books in the "New Age" section!

That said, I have witnessed a a UFO, actually two, flying in formation. It was dusk. I was 8 or 9 at the time, standing in the front yard looking up over the roof of our house. At the time (vintage content here...) I would describe what I saw as looking like a hula hoop with Christmas lights strung around it's circumference. It, or at least the lights, was slowly rotating. Because of the darkness, I couldn't tell if there was anything solid within the perimeter of the "hula hoop." They were flying one behind the other from approximately north to south. I first spotted them when they were more or less abeam my position and watched until they were out of sight over the horizon, which took about 30-40 seconds. Already a life long aviation buff, I was very familiar with conventional aircraft, and these were not! Since I assumed at the time life was likely elsewhere in the universe, the event didn't have any great emotional impact on me, I just thought "hey, that's cool."

Cheers,

In my mid 20s, I recall only two “OBE”.

It’s difficult to explain what it is to those that never had one.

Fair enough point.

I understand the confusion... This thread was not a new age attempt to lump any phenomena in the same category. I allude to neural communication or rather 'activity' with an aim to understand how our 'mind' for lack of a better term processes such phenomena and if there is a deeper more unknown aspect to neural activity that can reach between time, dimensional perception and even (if) and that's a big (if), afterlife activity.

All of these thing would not be possible without neural activity and the dynamics that make up their quantum make up. Here is a reference article: http://arxiv.org/abs/1503.06837

I may go back and edit the thread post to make this more clear. Cheers!

Nope. Not a fair point. It was a misunderstanding of the point of the thread. It has been clarified.

I was going to post that in my pre-teens I had numerous encounters with UFOs.

Luckily, my dear dad (may he rest in peace) was not too good at hitting the target.

On the other hand, my ma never missed but in all fairness, she mostly spanked me & hardly
threw something at me.

I may have misunderstood the topic.

I apologize. :(

It wasn't you goober... ;) It was the other guy who said there was no sense to my thread....

Maybe I'm a little sensitive cause tomorrow is my b-day... :p

Truth is I did initially want to explore a more scientific approach to it, but the people spoke and I always go with the flow.... Makes it more fun.

So....are you suggesting that it's the same neural activity on our part that makes different folks see ghosts or ufos or bigfoots or whatever, and that this is indeed the same activity that would explain esp and related phenomena?
I am aware that the human mind is as mysterious and unexplored as the darkest depths of the oceans, or the farthest reaches of space, but that still doesn't make any of the things listed mutually exclusive.
I don't think the gent said there was no sense to your thread, I think he may have been choosing a different option to the ones offered. There's no shortage of folk who have absolute faith in the existence of aliens or alternate dimensions who will also unhesitatingly pooh-pooh the idea of ghosts or spirits or an afterlife. If there are aliens out there, who's to say they don't believe in god, or struggle with some of the same questions we do.

And happy birthday! Hope you enjoy this one and plenty more.

I am aware that the human mind is as mysterious and unexplored as the darkest depths of the oceans, or the farthest reaches of space, but that still doesn't make any of the things listed mutually exclusive.

I have noticed a slight tendency for writers who document "scientific" yet "supernatural" events like UFOs or Bigfoot sightings (as opposed to the non "scientific" sort like seeing Angels or Fairy's ... that one was big in the 1890s) to edit the account so that it seems more credible and to cut out details (I'm making this up because I have no references at my fingertips) like, "then the Bigfoot jumped into the air and flew off like a bird," which just make muck of the whole thing.

Yet both in spite of that and because of it I wonder if we don't sometimes see off the edge of this plane of existence, and what we experience is SO weird, so out of our frame of reference, that our mind's (possibly even the minds of a group of people who "see" the same thing) replace that out of reference oddness with something that is "off" but not utterly undigestible to the mind. A UFO, a ghost, a Bigfoot.

We've all had the experience where our unconscious replaced some half seen thing with something that looked like it. One of mine was a rattlesnake seen from the corner of my first appeared to be a chain laying on the ground. Wondering what a chain was doing there, I focused on it and saw it for what it was. I've always had suspicions about UFOs because the UFO technology seems always just a bit beyond what is possible in our world and the aliens, not so alien (truly alien would likely be unrecognizable as life). Whenever I think of this subject I am reminded of that great moment in the movie The Thirteenth Floor, where the character in the computer simulation drives to the edge of the world and stands looking at where reality ends and the wire-frame it is constructed on becomes visible. I think either because our universe is secretly very odd or because our senses are imperfect at processing what we experience (or both) there are some gaps that can occasionally be seen.

Perhaps on a different subject, perhaps not ...

Ten years or so ago I used to be very good at putting myself in trance ... full on hallucination good. It was a rip, especially of a kid who was never interested in using drugs. It took a lot of practice and is pretty hard to get back to now. I can still do it maybe 60% if I practice daily for about 3 months. But I had many an experience that was completely out of this world and certainly not dredged up from memory. Visual, auditory, and touch sensation (never a smell, however) were common ... well touch was a bit less common. It was a trip, quite literally. I pretty much stopped when I got to a point where I couldn't get any more out of it, I had exerted all the conscious control of the state possible for me and I'd hit a wall of sorts. Before this experience and even now I'd say I'm one of the last people you'd expect to have had that sort of experience ... in many ways it's just not me but ...
