I'm not much of an Indy fan, but I just stumbled across this website.

Among other things they're offering hand-made Indy hats closely styled after the film hats (again, I can't say anything about how close they really are to the originals) in different colors.
Made from rabbit fur felt, they're priced at 189 EUR with the option to use beaver instead of rabbit (+30 EUR).

They're also offering grosgrain ribbons, brown leather sweats, satin liners and raw hat bodies, hat brushes and stretchers plus some other stuff. I have to say that I'm impressed.

I think this could be interesting for loungers not just from Germany but also from the rest of Europe.

As of today, 189 € equals approx. $260.

And yes, the comma is in place of the decimal point.

And a decimal point is represented by the comma (1,000.00 would be 1.000,00 in German). It's something that even as a half German I can never understand. But we Germans seem to have odd tendencies like driving on the wrong side of the road. lol

Since the site also offers all the components needed to make a hat - beaver hat bodies, sweatbands, ribbons and liners I may make my own hat this way one day, if have the patience to learn it.

As for sweats, I just bought a few brown reeded leather sweats from Pleuser, a German manufacturer who produces all kinds of millinery stuff. I paid just a tad over $3.00 per piece, which is a good price.

The funny thing was that the whole transaction had something really vintage about it, as I they asked me to pay with postage stamps - just like in the days of yore.

O.k a little bit late maybe. but i orderd from them the Poet Fedora. ill keep you posted on the quality and so on.

A word on prices there. Note that initially, the list all says it includes 19% tax. This is removed once they see you are out of the country (creating an account via adding to basket and moving towards checkout, the prices were all reduced accordingly). The hat (HJ Poet) was €169,00 is now €142,02, with shipping by DHL to Michigan reading at €28,00.

The rework now reads at €200,84. I don't see an option for beaver (may be missing it!) except for the best looking (to my eyes) hat on their site, the Kingdom Fedora (not an HJ) for €184,03 for rabbit and an additional €25,21 for 100% beaver. But this model is listed as currently unavailable (in either felt).

Interesting, they state for the most film accurate hat to order in rabbit, implying that the original was rabbit, though the site says it was beaver (I suspect by the way it reads that was a typo/slip of the "tongue").
