Oberbayerische Hutfabrik gmbH. Miesbach "Edelweiss-Hut" "Chamois", 58 cm, 1955. The Chamois Felt is really fantastic (color, finish, hand) and easily dry creases. This is the first of a seven hat find.

Matt, Thanks! They are a similar process but Chamois tends to be a Finer Finish + Higher Quality Felt.

Thanks for the info, Steve:
I've never had a "Chamois" in my hands so far - but I've had several "Antelope" of varying quality.
So now I can imagine what kind of felt "Chamois" is, and if it is even higher quality than what I know,
it must be a fantastic felt! Is it a typical finish of the post-war period, or did it already exist pre-war?

Matt, Yes such finishes existed pre WWII. They were / are produced by sanding effects. Here is an article from the late 1930s on new European Machines (Brüder Böhm is featured) that produce Specialty Finishes. There are also some interesting correspondences I found regarding the Brüder Böhm machine.

Such machines became even more multifunctional post WWII. I have a lot information on this topic but I haven't gotten around to finishing the translations. There is a large void in such information here (which leads to misunderstanding).

Thank you, Steve, for the information here and everywhere else!
I'm not firm in making felts and hats and actually I've always been more interested in form and style.
But meanwhile I would like to know how the beautiful things in the world are/have been made!
So Thanks to you and all the others supplying me with learning material!

Rockel "Velourette", 58 cm possibly late 1950s. The finish is Chamois like so I would be interesting to know why Rockel chose the "Velourette" name. I have one other "Velourette" and it also has a Chamois like finish. I really like the Ribbon and Bow design. This is the second hat from my recent seven hat find.

Rockel "Jupiter", 58 cm possibly mid to late 1950s. The Chamois like felt is fantastic (color, finish, hand) and easily dry creases. Also really like the form and mid width band / ribbon. Unfortunately the liner is missing so I might look for a replacement. This is the third hat from my recent seven hat find.

Quite the haul so far, Steve. Very nice hats. I really like the shape of this Rockel Jupiter.
