Rockel Velourette. Nice short-haired velour hat in wonderful colours. It is supposed to be a size 57, but fits me quite well. Bound brim at 6,3cm and crown at 9,5cm at the center dent. I have a similar one branded Konsul, with a slighty thinner ribbon.

Weather finally good enough to wear this Huckel that arrived a month or so back. Sportier look with a narrow ribbon - I assume it's pre-war, but wasn't able to find out much on 'Jaccroyable' (assume its the make).

Tagged 58, but manages to fit with a bit of padding/spacers.

Wayne, Looks fantastic! I know they used the model name "Incroyable". Does it have a paper label behind the sweatband? Also can I see a photo of the sweatband marks?

Of course it's incroyable! Didn't even bother to read the sweat, so excited about the hat I was! Unfortunately the reorder label was ripped out at some point, but heres a remnants and details of the sweat. I love the punched hole detailing, almost brouging like.

Great colour, this Rockel. Is it Walnut?

Thanks, Marcel. More like Chestnut to my eye, but the label doesn't say.

Very nice.
Interesting and unusual is that the ribbon and brim-edge colors neither match the felt nor each other.

That combination is quite common on homburgs. Not so much so on fedoras. I have to admit though that the brim binding was closer to the felt colour originally; there's some wear to it, which has made it lighter in colour.

Fantastic Hückel worn in the style it so richly deserves. Cudos Wayne!

Man, I was so excited to see this thread ! I'm a huge 'Oktoberfester' as well as collecting all sorts of Vintage German items; Cuckoo Clocks, Beer Steins, Nutcrackers, and many East German wood carvings, especially Christmas decorations. I know most of the Oktoberfest hats are just costume hats, but I did actually find a halfway descent wool Tyrolean Hat from Austria. I guess I never realized I could get a 'real hat' in this style. I started looking at the Wegeners and Zapfs after slowly reading through this thread, and lit looks like I can get new ones in this style from them. Any other recommendations for this style of hat, maybe even a vintage one if I can find one ?

I'll probably leave out all the pins if I find a really nice one.

We're going to head up to the Mt. Angel, Oregon Oktoberfest tomorrow if my back feels any better.

We went 2 years ago and, like you, saw mostly cheap costume hats. Only a couple other guys there with fur felt hats.

I have an A. Breiter Trachten Hut from Munich that i like. I still want to get some nice feathers and/or badger brush for the hat.

Zapf is good choice for current makers. For vintage there are many choices. P. & C. Habig Wien have some really nice forms. You can check my website to see each company.

Wayne, Thanks! So it has "Incroyable" on the sweatband? I can't make the crown patch. Does it have "Incroyable" there too?

Best place for vintage German hats is German eBay ... www.ebay.de
Search for "Trachtenhut" and you will find a big variety of used hats suitable for an Oktoberfest visit; some of very good quality too.
Of course the demand and prices can be higher now ... one week before the Oktoberfest starts.
