Thanks Mario, German hats seem poorly represented on the U.S. auction sites. I was very happy to find this one.

best,
Alan

Hm, I´d love to find such a beauty on our local auction site! Brim up or down ... you wear it well either way!:eusa_clap:eusa_clap

Nagy Hut Wien XVI Homburg

About 58.5 cm. A very unique charcoal color. Very interesting sweatband that is 2 1/4 inches in width. Very nice short hair finish with contrasting binding and frayed bow. I am thinking at least 1930s. Nagy Hut is a famous hat store in Vienna which is still in business today. I am not sure who made (paper label only has model numbers) this one for them but I think it's a real nice example of the style.

Hückel Foulard

Black, size 57cm with very light weight felt. This was made by Hückel Hutfabrik Weilheim, West Germany. Also came with a box which I assume is original. Probably late 1950s early 1960s.

Thanks!

Just got back from my trip so will be posting some really interesting info like this early 1900s photo of Johann Hückel´s Söhne workers. At this time Neutitschein, Austria (today Nový Jičín, Czech Republic) population was around 12,000 of which more than half worked in the hating industry.

They have about 600 hats on display and over 6000 in their collection. They are currently photo cataloging the entire collection and the project should be completed by 2013. I must say most of the hats (most from Novy Jicin makers like JHS, Peschel and BB) they have are unbelievable so if you are ever in the Czech Republic I highly recommend you pay them visit (about 2 1/2 hours south east of Pargue). They are also in the process of putting together a Hat Machine musuem that should open in a couple years.

These are mindblowing! The velour could be very close to mole fur velour in appearance and feel!
