again this one looks blue, probably because it is in such beautiful condition the black of the hat is so plush when beside the black of your jacket. Hey Elvis's hair was dyed so black it looked blue and went with his suede shoes.

Karl, Thanks! I think it's some shade of black. The felt is a lighter middle weight. A very nice hat to wear.

J. Hückel ´s Söhne "Flexible Seal Velour", French Point 7 / 60cm, Crown Open 6 inches, Brim 2 1/4 inches, probably later 1930s. I haven't come across a "Flexible Seal Velour" before and this one is really fantastic. As usual the JHS Velour is amazing / unmatched (color, density, pliability, finish).

Manfred, Thanks! Yes my latest Rockel is very similar to your Rockel "Flamand". I think mine is somewhere between a Flamand and a Velour but only a number for the Quality type. Are you going to the Flea Markets tomorrow?

Didn't get my comment to post on the other thread, so here goes. Wow, again and again. I love the color and lines, but what really floats my boat is the detail and beauty of the liner logo. These German liners always seem to be a step above, lots of color and detail and gold. I see why you love them so.

Contrary to popular belief, I haven't fallen off the face of the planet, I have just not been around because of illness. Anyway, I have missed this place and hope you are all well! It looks like it will take me some time to catch up... In the mean time, I thought I would post yesterday's find: a 1970s black Habig homburg. Still needs a bit of steaming and brushing, but the condition I found it in is great considering it was sitting on a car bonnet on the flea market.

There are no other numbers on the paper label, Steve, but there is a date stamp on the inside of the sweatband so I know the hat is from 11 November 1971.

Celia, Thanks! I wasn't sure if there was a series of numbers under the black strip of the sweatband reed housing. There is change from 3 years earlier when the production year is still at the end (this goes back to around early 1930s).
