German & Austrian Hutmachers

Charlie, Frunobulax, Thanks! I have no idea why they are wrapped in paper (looks old) with old photographs (some portraits). I am trying to get information on their background. I believe they come from the same source as the previous plates. So far the 3 hat companies (JHS, BB, AP) of Neutitschein / Nový Jičín have been represented (maybe others) and the hat makers union in Prague.

Is there a traditional place to fix a feather on a Geman hat?
Just moved this from the general hat topic but can't get rid there, so posted here. Anyone want to help me?

Hi all, I have just bought a couple of feathers fixed in small silver cones similar to those worn in German style hats.
My question is, is there a traditional way to affix these feathers? To which side of the hat and are these particular to Austrian/ German Tyrol styles. I have a large brimmed fedora I wish to attach the feather to.
Thanks, J.

Normally it would be at the rear of the bow or rope loop / knot. I would have to see the hat and the feather. Take look at this.

Serious Hutschmuck, Austria early 1900s.

Trenchfriend mentioned a Schützenhut which incorporates a rooster feather. Here is a fantastic high end example from around 1900.

Wow is right, Steve! Just an amazing lid and feathers. He should be a Lounge member!

Trenchfriend that typewriter looks eerily like an enigma machine from that angle. Cool piece of history, sir!

Not yet bought a proper German hat yet but I have fedora styles at the moment and would like to adorn these.
Next year I hope to visit the Black Forrest, Bavarian Alps and purchase a genuine Tyrol hat. The lower photograph is excellent. Thanks for posting.

J. Hückel´s Söhne, Seiden Zylinder with original case probably 1930s. This one came from a source in the Czech Republic. I really like that JHS used a silk ribbon / bow vs a cloth band which is more typical. Also that the original case survived especially since it's paper based.

Thanks! The silk needs some cleaning in spots from dust but other than that it's in near mint condition. I saw you posted a Trachten Velour hat made in West Germany for Disney in the WHAYWT thread. Did you post details here? I might be able to tell what hat company made it.
